The girls get bronze π₯
The Met North girls capped off an impressive State Championships campaign with a dominant win in the bronze medal match at Townsville 2026.
Our own youth athlete Charlotte showed incredible resilience, backing up strongly after injuries earlier in the week that looked like they may have ended her tournament early.
The whole team played exceptionally well, with her U/13 Grange teammates Riley and Annabelle having strong games, while U/15 teammates Taylor and Marina also played fantastic football to help secure the win over a strong met east team.
Her school teammate Veda was a standout for the Met North side all week, winning plenty of contested football and working tirelessly in both attack and defence.
Charlotte worked hard right across the tournament and earned herself a call-up to the Queensland extended squad. Still just 12 years old, she was one of only three other bottom-age girls selected in the squad.
Big congratulations as well to Riley, Taylor and Veda on making the Queensland side from met north π
Now we wait and hope the football gods are in our favour and Charlotte gets the call-up from the extended squad for Nationals in July.
Very proud ππ€ππ€π

A tough game against south Coast who are very, very strong side.
Another great game from Charlotte, tough at the footy and ran all day.
The score did not reflect the game but we're onto the bronze medal match against Met North for day 4.

Another good game from youth athlete Charlotte at day 2 of the afl State Championships.
It's hard to have as many tackles in game 2, when you have so many in game 1, but she still had a tonne. She managed to find more of the football and when the team was up by just 2 points with Penninsula storming home, Charlotte was moved to the back line and produced a match saving spoil to secure the victory.
A very strong South Coast team is up next. Winner goes to battle for a gold medal. Loser battles for a bronze medal.
GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 in the books at the AFL State Championships in Townsville for Youth Athlete, Charlotte.
A tough loss to a strong Sunshine Coast team after looking like the stronger team all day.
Charlotte had a great individual game, showing off her strength with lots of tackles resulting in lots of holding the ball decisions going her way. Her kicking is improving each year, as is her marking, which was evident today.
Bring on day 2 π
