One week ago tonight. ✨

A garden courtyard under cherry blossoms, so many familiar faces, and an evening that flew by. I’m still not sure it has fully sunk in.

Thank you for being part of the night we launched Lead with Kokoro. 🙏

Thanks for hosting such an unforgettable evening Morpheus Publishing

Still pinching myself. ✨

Last night we launched Lead with Kokoro in Brisbane, and it flew by. I lost all sense of time. It still feels like a beautiful fever dream.

So many of you came to celebrate, from old colleagues old and new, clients and friends.

Thank you for filling that garden courtyard, under cherry blossoms with so much warmth. 🙏

A book is written alone. It’s launched together.

My amazing husband! You’re my rock and biggest supporter. Love you 😍

Morpheus Publishing and Justine Martin for bringing my story, dream and vision into the world.

Jam Abadiano my amazing sister for flying up from Sydney and spending launch day with me!

Andrew Jobling couldn’t have done it without your guidance.

An Australian king parrot came to visit while I had my morning coffee, and for a few minutes nothing else mattered.

Today I launch my book, Lead with Kokoro in Brisbane, and this is how the day began: quietly, and with a guest. She sat on the railing, looked me straight in the eye and stayed a while.

A good reminder that before the big moments, there’s always time to pause and notice what’s right in front of you.

What’s the small thing that grounds you before a big day?

A week in Melbourne: full days, early starts, and two small practices that kept me steady.

Ma 🌅 Opening the curtains to the sunrise and pausing before reaching for my phone.

Keiko 🏋️‍♀️ Showing up at the hotel gym, even with lighter weights this week. Some weeks the practice is going backwards, and that’s OK.

Neither took long. Both changed how I showed up for the work.

Which one do you need more of right now: the pause or the practice?

I was working from the couch this morning laptop open, when I heard them.

Two kookaburras on the back deck calling out to each other and then just sitting. Completely unbothered.

I put the laptop down and watched them for a while. Didn’t check the time. Didn’t think about what was next.

This is what I keep writing about and keep having to relearn. Ma (the intentional pause) doesn’t always arrive as a philosophy. Sometimes it arrives as two birds on a railing who have absolutely no interest in your to-do list.

On the other side of it now. Surgery done, leg up, and naturally watching the Socceroos.

For someone who’s spent years practicing and writing about Ma - the Japanese philosophy of the intentional pause - being forced into stillness is its own kind of lesson. No gym, no rushing, no filling every gap. Just rest, recovery, and trusting that this pause is part of the work.

“The moments I pause to ask ‘How am I actually feeling?’ are not interruptions to my work. They are the work.” — Lead with Kokoro

Forced stillness. Practising what I preach.

Before the compass, there was a chairlift.

December 2018. Marmot Basin, Alberta. A late afternoon sun dipping behind the peaks, and an idea that wouldn’t let me go.

This is the first reading from Lead with Kokoro: A Leadership Compass Built on Japanese Wisdom — arriving October 2026. Follow along for more. 🌿
