It’s a wrap for the weekend in Coolum for the Reds.

Firstly a thank you to our friends at Coolum Beach Walking Football especially Tony Innes & Dominique Massoni for putting on a great event.

Thank you to the Tournament Gaffer Paul Langenberg for organising the team. A big thank you to Diana Reeves for making the trek over from the West. We always appreciate the effort. Also thanks to Neil Butland⁩ for battling on with his sore knee and taking the whole tournament in goals (and doing a great job)! Emilio Raglione for still making the trip up whilst injured to be supporter #1 and welcome to @⁨~Mike Capstick⁩ it was great having you play!

Results wise, even though we didn’t come home with any silverware as we did in the 2024 Coolum event, this years results were more impressive as we qualified for the Cup Semi finals, therefore finishing in 3rd position of the 8 social mixed teams.

Our results were :

0-1 Loss
2-0 Win
1-0 Win
Semi Final 0-0 (Lost Penalties)
3rd place playoff 0-0 (Won Penalties).

Great effort Reds, not only on the pitch but also an enjoyable social time with a brewery trip on Friday & team dinner Saturday night. I’m sure we’ll be back at Coolum in August 2026.

Next up will be the October Nudgee FQ event.

Rabs.

On Saturday The Reds played in the Oxley Cup Tournament, maintaining our tradition of participating in every tournament over the last 6 years šŸ‘ A brilliant day, thank you to the hard working Oxley crew headed by Leonie. A big thumbs up also to the Referees. The Reds came away with 2nd place in the Mixed 40/50’s category. Next stop - Coolum šŸ˜Ž

The Reds played in the FQ QUT Cup event held at Nudgee Reserve on the weekend.

A great time was had by all and a big thank you to the Gaffer Emilio Raglione for organising the team and to the FQ staff & referees who put on a great event at a top class venue.

The Reds didn’t concede a single goal across the 7 matches with 4 wins, 3 draws and a goal F/A of 10-0, finishing in 2nd place. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of luck in the semi final penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw. Brilliant effort šŸ‘

Fortunately we only had to wait another 18 hours for the ā€˜Reds’ to claim some silverware šŸ˜‰

The Reds are just about to wrap up the Walking Football competition at South’s United.
Thank you to South’s for co-ordinating the first and only League Competition for Walking Football on fantastic synthetic grass fields.
Run over 8 weeks with 4 teams battling each other for the title. It shows the sport is inclusive as we have younger players, mixed + men’s teams all in the same league, playing closely fought competitive matches. With qualified WF referees the comp has been brilliant šŸ‘
