Australian Kendo Championships 2026 ✨️
This past weekend, some of our QUT Kendo members attended (competing, volunteering, or both!) the Australian Kendo Championships!
Our competitors fought incredibly hard at the competition, giving it their all! We really made a good impression for our club within the kendo community and made new friends along the way.
Our members were involved in achieving the following:
🥉Women's Kyu Team: Milly, Hana, Laura (all QUT)
🥉Men's Kyu Team: Adam (QUT), Andrew (Cairns Kendo club), Hans (KSK), and Michal (KSK)
🥉Men's Dan Team: Anthony (QUT), Fab and Yuki (Shubukai), Sorin and David (KSK)
🔥 Fighting spirit: Adam for men's kyu and hana for womens kyu (both QUT)
🛡John Butler Award (awarded to someone who has been incredibly involved and a vital member of the Australian Kendo community): Eric Jeffery sensei (one of QUT's beloved sensei)
A huge congratulations to everyone! And also, a massive thank you to all our volunteers from QUT. You guys made a difference and helped the event run smoothly! That is an incredibly valuable experience.
We wish to thank all the event organizers at the AKR and QKR for hosting such a spectacular event! We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the next one ✨️

Successful 5th Dan Grading! ✨️
We would like to acknowledge and congratulate Nash Wu from QUT Kendo Club, for his successful 5th dan grading at the 2026 International Summer Kendo Seminar hosted by Auckland Kendo Club! 🎉
This is a very impressive and difficult milestone to reach that has come from a lot of hard work and preparation, which Nash has put in a lot of. We are sure he will continue to soar through his kendo journey, and become even stronger. 💪
We also want to congratulate Heebum Yang, a friend to many of us at QUT Kendo and QLD kendo overall, on achieving his 5th dan also! It is fantastic to see his growth since his move to New Zealand.
Keep it up, guys! ☺️
Thank you to Auckland Kendo Club as well for hosting this very awesome event! 🙇♀️
