💡 Body fat is a tender subject this time of year. Xmas is a time of celebration so we’re drawn to activities that give us pleasure.

⭐️ Fats help us enjoy the taste of food because they're able to dissolve and concentrate flavor and odor chemicals. These chemicals are released into the air by the heat of cooking.

😀 That's why you can taste the foods even before you eat them – because some of the flavor molecules are already in your nose and mouth.

Here are some Xmas tips to keep body fat in check.

1️⃣ Keep up Your Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic activity is defined as any type of exercise “with oxygen”.
Including aerobic exercise to your routine may be one of the most effective ways to enhance fat burning.
Running, walking, cycling and swimming are just a few examples of some cardio exercises that can help burn fat and kick-start weight loss.

2️⃣ Squeeze in More Sleep
Going to bed a bit earlier or setting your alarm clock a little later can help boost fat burning and prevent weight gain.
Several studies have found an association between getting enough sleep and weight loss.
Other research shows that a lack of sleep may contribute to alterations in hunger hormones, increased appetite and a higher risk of obesity.
Although everyone needs a different amount of sleep, most studies have found that getting at least seven hours of sleep per night is associated with the most benefits when it comes to body weight.
Stick to a regular sleep schedule to help support a healthy sleep cycle.

3️⃣ Cut back on carbs — especially refined carbs
Reducing your carb intake can be very beneficial for losing fat, including abdominal fat.
A high intake of refined carbs is associated with excessive belly fat. Consider reducing your carb intake or replacing refined carbs in your diet with healthy carb sources, such as whole grains, legumes, or vegetables.

😉 How about improving your sports skills? What if you tried something new and it worked? Interesting ... go on. Friday is all about the skills in sport.

💡 Perhaps athletes do not fail in competitions because their skill level is poor: it is suggested they fail because their ability to perform the skill in competition conditions is poor.

👉 Skills are learned abilities that athletes acquire through training and practice.

👍 Skill could be defined as the ability to perform at a high standard effectively and efficiently.

🤙 Fundamental movement skills are basic movements such as throwing, kicking, running, jumping, hopping and catching.

🔒 We go into bat for Pelleres improving skills because you can perform functional movement with a subtle overload. Embrace Pelleres as a skill development tool; Red, Yellow, Green, Blue all can be used for skill training.

⏰ "Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe." Abraham Lincoln.

🔑 Improving your skills is akin to sharpening your axe.

✅ Skill is an athlete's ability to choose and perform the right techniques at the right time, successfully, regularly and with a minimum of effort.

📶 Skill is acquired and therefore has to be learned.

🛎 A motor skill is a function, which involves the precise movement of muscles with the intent to perform a specific act. Most purposeful movement requires the ability to "feel" or sense what one's muscles are doing as they perform the act.

🆗 Simple motor skills that require very little intricate body movement and are similar in most sports. Examples are running, jumping, throwing, catching and hitting.

Use Pelleres for skill development and improvement. Blue, Green, Yellow, or Red.

A Message to All Coaches.

A coach convinced me to move to Brisbane to play club rugby.

Probably within 15 minutes I knew I wanted to go. Mind you I had never met this coach before. And we’d only spoken for about 30 minutes after a game.

There are moments in life when someone REALLY inspires you to roll the dice. But I had to leave one of the best jobs I had ever had, leave one of the best cities I had ever lived in.

All for what? A 30 minute conversation with a stranger after a game.

What I’ve learnt is that in your life there are people who will inspire you to greatness.

It’s not about the championships, the money, the celebrity, it’s about the people.

So thank you, to all coaches for inspiring greatness into everyone around you.

Like or comment if you agree!

The Best Thank You Is Doing the Same for Others

What’s your approach to fitness? What’s your training program structure? How do you get or stay match fit?

I had no idea what I was doing when I first started making age-group representative rugby teams. But I knew three things:

1. I was fast.
2. I could score tries.
3. I loved tackling.

By chance one of the people I met who saved me from years of struggle was Johnny*, a strength and conditioning coach who had moved to Brisbane from Sydney. An ex-NRL player, university graduate, he had worked with a number of Sydney League teams.

I looked at him as someone who had knowledge and experience. And he looked at me as a raw, young, inspired player who needed a hand.

Over the next few months he took his time to walk me through many strength and conditioning problems that would have faltered my path.

I offered him money, favors, anything else he wanted in appreciation of his effort.

This was his response, “This is what I do. I like you, I want to help you be the best you can be. I don’t need a thank you.”

People like Johnny are why successful players exist.

They're willing to help because they understand relationships underlie everything we have.

They're in the industry for the right reasons.

The best thank-you I can give is doing the same for others.
