Important Update:
Hi Supporters & Followers of UTR Events Australia
Wanted to take this opportunity to update you on UTR in Australia and our position as pioneers of UTR Events here in Australia.
Firstly, a brief history:
For those new to the idea of UTR, UTR Events Australia was established in 2016. In our primary business, Study & Play USA, helping Australians find the right college in the US, we found that UTR was fast becoming the most accurate recruiting tool for US college coaches. Back in 2016, only those with ATP or ITF experience had a UTR in Australia. In other words, very few juniors in Australia actually had a UTR. Most of these did not know about UTR or its purpose. So to help Australians gain a UTR, the only way was to create UTR Events. This voluntarily took us to Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and across Queensland to try to introduce the concept of level - based play and ultimately provide opportunities for all Australians to gain a UTR.
A year later, all Australians who had played a TA event (excluding JDS) were ‘in the system’. Our events had widely become accepted as ‘best practice UTR tennis events’ and this resulted in collaborating and consulting to many other countries. So we are very proud of our role in pioneering and growing UTR down under on a voluntary unpaid basis.
Events:
Initially, in order to run a UTR event, it was run via UTR Events Australia in conjunction with Universal Tennis in the USA.
As time progressed and wonderful organisations like Voyager Tennis in Sydney adopted the concept more fully, UTR Events Australia has transitioned out of running events into education, regularly presenting at tournaments advising players how to best maximise their UTR and what markers they need to be reaching to be accepted into suitable US
Colleges.
Moving ahead:
Under the banner of Study & Play USA, we will continue to run Australia’s only ‘College Prep Camps’ incorporating valuable UTR matches, US college coaches, US College players, parent and player workshops, expert tennis industry advice all in purpose built ‘college’ environment with families from right around Australia.
Our expertise will be utilised to advise any player, family or coach about maximizing UTR for college recruiting purposes.

What’s your UTR??
UTRs can facilitate level-based play between opponents of similar ability, worldwide. This produces a far greater proportion of competitive tennis matches (defined by UTR as those decided by a score of 6-3, 6-4 or closer). Such even matches have many advantages; they increase enjoyment for both athletes and spectators and are the most powerful engine for player development.
