🏌️‍♂️ US College Golf Recruiting Tip

A question we get asked a lot: what are college golf coaches looking for?

The top answer: tournament results.

Whether it's a 1-day event or a 4-day tournament, competitive golf provides coaches with valuable insight into how you perform under pressure, adapt to different course setups, and handle the challenges of tournament play.

The more tournaments you play, the more opportunities you have to:
✅ Gain experience on different courses
✅ Learn how to compete under pressure
✅ Develop consistency and resilience
✅ Show coaches you're preparing for the demands of college golf

A common misconception is that one bad round or poor tournament will hurt your recruiting chances. In reality, coaches understand that every player has ups and downs. A few tough scores won't derail your recruiting journey.

What concerns coaches more is a lack of tournament experience. Limited competitive rounds make it harder for them to evaluate your game and determine how prepared you are for college golf.

Get out there, compete often, learn from every event, and trust the process. Every tournament is an opportunity to grow and showcase your potential ⛳️

Where Are They Now?

Izzy Robinson graduated from Wayne State College (Nebraska) in 2022 with a Bachelor's Degree of Exercise Science. She was captain in her senior year of college, earning Women’s Small College All-American, MVP at the National Championships and Wayne State’s MVP as well. To top it off, Izzy was also selected to the All Star 7s All Tournament Team and was recognised as the 2021-2022 Women’s Rugby Club Sport Athlete of the Year!

"Since graduating, I’ve been fortunate to have some amazing opportunities both on and off the field. Straight after college, I completed an internship at a summer camp in the USA and loved it so much that I returned for a second summer in 2023. During that time, I also began my Master of Secondary Education at Griffith University, graduating in 2025.

After my second summer camp, I returned home and joined the Queensland Reds Super W squad for the 2024 season, where I was fortunate enough to make my debut. I now work at Mt St Michael’s College as a Physical Education Teacher and Head Coach of the rugby program.

Throughout it all, I’ve remained a proud member of the Sunnybank Premier Women’s squad. Looking back, college gave me lifelong friendships, incredible opportunities, a few championships, and opened doors in both rugby and my career.

Take the chance. Do something that makes you uncomfortable because you never know where it will take you. Be comfortable in the uncomfortable."
