So many spills in the Junior men 1 lap heats.
Track was deemed unsafe and road events were cancelled not long after this.
So disappointing for all skaters

SKATE QLD SPEED SKATING TRAINING CAMP with PETER MICHAEL

Two-time Winter Olympian and multiple Inline Speed Skating World Champion Peter Michael is coming to coach in Queensland, and he wants to see as many of us as possible out there with our skates on.

Fun fact: Pete only found inline speed skating because his mum dropped him at the wrong hall when he was seven. He was meant to be trying out for rink hockey! That wrong turn led to world titles and two Olympic Games.

Opportunities like this don’t come around often. You’ll get a world champion breaking down your technique, sharing how he trains, and skating right alongside you. Whether you’re chasing a podium or just building confidence, you’ll come away a better skater.

Saturday 24 October | ROAD
Murarrie Recreation Reserve
11am – 2pm
A, B, C, D and Masters Grade competitive skaters, plus advanced recreational skaters

Sunday 25 October | INDOOR
Skate Paradise
7–9am: A, B and Masters Grades (part 1)
9–10am: C and D Grades, advanced recreational skaters and Learn to Skate skaters (see below)
10am–12pm: A, B and Masters Grades (part 2)

Learn to Skate families: the 9–10am session is for you too!
We’d love to see some of our Saturday Learn to Skate skaters join Pete on the Sunday. This session suits skaters who are confident on their skates and ready for the next step: comfortable skating laps, able to stop safely, and happy to listen to and follow a coach’s instructions in a group. If that sounds like your skater, this is an amazing chance to learn from a world champion. Not sure if they’re ready? Have a chat with one of our coaches at this Saturday’s sim races and we’ll help you decide.

Sunday 1 November | MARATHON
Murarrie Recreation Reserve
9am – 12pm
5, 10, 21 and 42km distances (depending on registrations). Competitive skaters only, for racing insurance.
A fun one! Skate as many Ks as you like.

Costs
Saturday (Road): $30
Sunday (Indoor): $40, or $20 for the 9–10am session
Marathon: $15
Full weekend (competitive skaters): $60

All ages. All welcome. If you can get there, Pete wants to see you there. Don’t sit this one out!
