Before you opt to cut fat out of your diet, it might help to realise that lipids (fat) can be very beneficial. Fat provides massive amounts of energy, and helps to trigger our satiety hormones, therefore regulating our eating. But they also work in tandem with fat soluble vitamins. Without fat in their diets people can become severely malnourished as they require fats to be completely bio-available. So vitamins A, D, E and K definitely want you to consume healthy fats (mono and polyunsaturated fats) such as healthy oils, nuts, oily fish, and high quality dairy. The ones we want to avoid are saturated and trans fats.

Lamb, rosemary and feta sausages

Roasted fennel, garlic and olive salad

Italian sausage, pesto and fetta pizza (sausage mince from yesterdays sausages)

And that’s the first batch of homemade sausages in our house!

Today I’m sharing something a lot of you may never have seen. This is an in-country medal. They are given for an active deployment within Australia and are not worn. This was my first trip, covering the first Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting post 9-11 where we took our AN/TPS-43 RADAR and set up a no fly zone. It was the first armed operation in Australia outside of WWII. Today my thoughts are with one of my brothers who we lost last year. Vale Don. Thanks for the lessons and the laughs.
