The presentation of the cannon was on Sunday. Quite a ceremony The regiment commander gave a medal for the work I had done. It has been a joy to work with the guys to get it done. They did a brilliant job jgiven the time constraints they were under.

The Samford museum was approached to see if the blacksmith guys could make the ironwork to remount a cannon. The Army’s 7th Brigade at Enoggera is currently restoring a “Clifton Gun” circa 1797, which was brought out to Qld when Qld was first established. It will sit at the entrance to the Gallipoli barracks Enoggera. It was requsted that we use old iron where possible The wrought iron has been sourced from the Victoria Barracks and Dutton park cemetery. Both lots are about 150 years old.
I had a great morning wandering around the “Blacksmith Festival “ in Melbourne this morning. Great work on display. Lots of inspiring ideas to think about.
And the sun was out. Bonus
I will not be going to the Abbey medieval event this year. Those who have supported me there in previous years Thankyou. I am happy to continue to make the woodworking gouges and spoon knives. Just contact me. I will still be running copper work classes at the Samford Museum. Blacksmithing classes will run from home but I need to a big clean up of my workshop first.

A few poppies ready for Anzac Day. They will be for sale on Sunday and Anzac Day. I have also prepared the materials so visitors can have a go along with copper work on both days. I have metal stamps so they can be embossed if you want to celebrate some one’s contribution.
I usually have the forge running and run copper work classes on the first Sunday of the month ie 2nd of February but I will be at celebration of life for Rober Ryerson was a great architectural blacksmith who passed recently. However will be doing both activities on Australia Day at the Samford Museum.
I put January before sorry
