Moments like these remind me that wellness should be accessible to everyone, and that community, movement, and connection can make a meaningful difference. 💛

After 15 years of teaching yoga, I’ve never taught the exact same class to the same group of students with the same energy. ✨

Every class is different because every group of students is different. An experienced teacher learns to meet students where they are, to sense their energy, their ability, and what they need in that moment. Sometimes the whole plan shifts if even half the class is finding it challenging. That’s the beauty of teaching, it is alive and responsive.

It takes years of practice to truly see your students, not just guide them.

If you are new to teaching, trust this: experience is built over time. Keep showing up. Keep teaching. Keep learning from every class.

You are becoming the teacher your students need.

In the early morning class today, I got everyone to hold Eagle Pose for a little longer while I was trying to explain that Yoga is about using the pose to get into the body, instead of using the body to get into the pose 😅

Meanwhile, everyone was busy trying to wrap their legs and arms and looked very confused 😅 Then I said, “Maybe it’s a little too early in the morning to go this deep into the conversation,” and we all had a good laugh 😊 Sometimes, the laugh is all that matters.

What I mean is, the shape of the pose is not the most important part. The real practice is noticing what you feel inside while you are there: your breath, your thoughts, your focus, your emotions, and the sensations in the body.

Sometimes we become so focused on “doing the pose right” that we forget to actually experience it.

Keep practicing! Keep smiling!
