UQ DOUBLES SURPRISE TOURNAMENT

A fun tournament, not to be missed, is the UQ Tennis Club's Doubles Surprise Daytime Tournament which will be played on Sunday morning, 14 June, from 8 a.m. to approx. 12:30 p.m.

Although this is a Doubles tournament, players enter as individuals.

Players (all standards, male or female) will be paired initially through a public draw and allocated to numbered courts for the first match. After each match, the winners move up a court and the losers move down a court. Players then switch partners for the next match. Gradually, during the morning, the better players will move towards the No. 1 court.

The entry fee is $25 for members or $35 for non-members.

UQ AUTUMN MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

Some awesome Tennis tonight (Saturday, 30 May) with 92 players competing in the UQ Tennis Club's Autumn Night Series Mixed Doubles Tournament.

This was a record entry for the tournament.

The event winners were Tess Caldicott & David Kym (Open), Rebecca Warner & Alex Levchenko (A Grade), Yasmin Ward & Luka Boskovic (B Grade) and Emme Li & Adam Li (C Grade).

The Lucky Prize Draw winners were Scott Kelly, Peter Lawrence, Tatenda Mawere, Anja Nayar, Megan-Lee Nguyen and Nina Sang.

The UQ Tennis Club's next Saturday night tournament will be the June Any-Gender Night Singles Tournament on 20 June (Open & B Grade) and 27 June (A Grade & C Grade):

UQ SOCIAL TENNIS CANCELLED TONIGHT (28 MAY)

Heavy rain has just hit, so Social Tennis at the UQ Tennis Club is cancelled tonight (Thursday, 28 May).

Despite the heavy rain throughout the morning and early afternoon, the weather cleared and the Finals of the UQ Tennis Club's First Semester Monday Night Team Fixtures were played on 25 May, as scheduled.

At the conclusion of the matches, a trophy & prize presentation was conducted on the clubhouse verandah.

The Tuesday Night Fixtures Finals were scheduled to be played on 26 May. However, because of the wet weather, the Finals have been postponed to 2 June.

UQ TENNIS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS – FINAL RESULT

The UQ Tennis Club's Annual Championships were completed last Sunday afternoon (24 May) with the Final of the Open Mixed Doubles.

The match was played on the Centre Court so players attending Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis got to see some great Tennis in this incredibly close match. At one set all, the match was decided by a match deciding tie-break that could have gone either way.

In the Final, Ashley Wilkinson & Ethan Gunn defeated Sabrina Bate & Shaun Boey 6-7 6-3 [10-8].

Just confirming the obvious.

Wednesday Night Tennis Practice at the UQ Tennis Club has been cancelled tonight (27 May) because of the continuing wet weather.

UQ TUESDAY FIXTURE FINALS POSTPONED

As can be seen in the photo, heavy rain has just hit UQ.

The UQ Tennis Club's Tuesday Night Fixture Finals & Play-Offs, scheduled for tonight, 26 May, have been cancelled.

The Finals & Play-Offs will now be played on the advertised backup date of 2 June. Same draw and courts as for tonight.

UQ TUESDAY NIGHT FIXTURES STILL ON TONIGHT (19 MAY)

The UQ Tennis Club's Tuesday Night Team Fixtures are still on tonight, 19 May.

The weather has cleared and the courts have been drying rapidly.

Just be aware there may still be some damp corners at 7 p.m.

UQ AUTUMN MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

The UQ Tennis Club's Tournament Program continues with the Autumn Night Series Mixed Doubles Tournament on Saturday night, 30 May.

Entry is open to all players who have a Tennis Australia Competitive Player Profile linked to Universal Tennis Ratings (and are 13 years of age or older in 2026). The entry fee is $25/person for UQ Tennis Club members or $35/person for non-members.

ENTRIES CLOSE ON THURSDAY, 28 MAY. However, as there is a limit to the maximum number of players that can be accommodated in a one-night tournament, entries may be closed earlier if entry numbers reach that maximum.
