Certificate III in Irrigation Technology – Block 1 & Certified Irrigation Installer Delivery at Tocal College - RTO 91166

Irrigation Australia recently delivered Block 1 of the Certificate III in Irrigation Technology alongside the Certified Irrigation Installer (CII) program at Tocal, giving students a strong foundation in the core installation practices that underpin modern irrigation work. This combined delivery focused on building confidence in real-world installation, system layout, component assembly and safe on-site procedures.

Participants developed competency in:

➡️ Reading and interpreting irrigation plans, including scaled drawings and site measurements

➡️ Conducting site assessments, completing SWMS and identifying hazards

➡️ Setting out mainlines and laterals using stringlines and field measurements

➡️ Cutting, assembling and pressure-testing PVC and poly components

➡️ Installing valves, fittings and pipeline components

➡️ Completing system flushing, performance checks and commissioning tasks

➡️ Documenting materials, tasks and installation sequences

Throughout the delivery, students moved between classroom-based planning and field installation. Training included plan drawing, materials scheduling, pressure/flow testing, catch-can assessments and collaborative problem-solving.

This course was strongly supported by Better Pool & Irrigation Supplies, who provided materials and equipment that allowed participants to train with fittings, tools and components used across the industry.

Block 1 builds the practical capability required for installers working in turf, landscape and agricultural environments. Paired with the CII program, participants leave with verified skills, a clearer pathway to certification and real-world experience that strengthens the quality and consistency of irrigation work across the sector.
