Today was week 3 of our 4 week Mt Coottha focus.

We have been increasing our distance each week with mental toughness being the prime driver.

Each week a "rep" is from the base to the lookout + back. That's 1 rep. Each week it was adding a bit more.

Some it started at 1 + increased by half.
Some it started at 2 + increased by 1.

It's a run club that caters for all with the focus on the individual getting 1% better each week.

Next week, we do a full lap. And for some that will be the first full lap. Others will be trying for a PB.

Individual goal with team support.

And each week everyone is hitting a new limit

It really is the best way to kick off the weekend 🙌

You've been working hard.
You have stuck to the plan.
You have actually achieved the goal you originally set.
And now someone gives you the compliment
They said genuinely "hey, you look really good. Nice work:"
And you say ......

Did you take it or deflect it ?

A skill that is very valuable learning is to measure backwards

What does this mean ?

It means remember where you came from, where you started + how far you have come.
It doesn't mean stop, it doesn't mean your next goal doesn't matter.
It means the work you did has paid off + you need to acknowledge it + be proud of it + accept it.

I'm all for set the next goal, stay motivated, keep moving. That's my philosophy.

But if you don't stop + smell the roses it does 2 things -

1. Tells the person who gave you the compliment to not do it again (because doesn't it feel yucky when your compliment gets rejected)
2. Says to yourself you still haven't done enough. And that's exhausting.

It's a process.
Whatever the goal.
It's a process.

Start.
Keep going.
Smell the roses.
Keep moving forward.

I am grateful for everything + everyone in my life.
I never skip a birthday workout.
The consistency of exercing is who I am.
It keeps me energerzised.
It keeps me young.
And I love the way I feel after a workout.
I also never skip birthday cake.
Today was a chocolate brownie.
