⚽️💜 Female Football Week Spotlight 💜⚽️

This week gives us an opportunity to celebrate those who help grow the women’s game every day.

Our final spotlight is Representative Player Emily Wiebe.

Emily joined our Senior Women's team last year, establishing herself as a tough and reliable fixo throughout our FQFPL and Queensland Futsal Cup campaigns.

In football, Emily is part of the FQ Referee Academy and continues to earn regular appointments to NPL Women's matches, including a recent appearance alongside teammate Erin Apps at NPL Magic Round. The achievements of her refereeing career do not end there, as Emily was appointed to the 2025 and 2026 Emerging Matildas Championships, including as Assistant Referee for the U16 Grand Final this year, and has officiated at four Queensland Representative School Sport State Championships.

We thank Emily for her contributions to both football and futsal and look forward to seeing where her hard work and dedication take her next.

This week gives us an opportunity to celebrate those who help grow the women’s game every day.

Today we look back at the Futsal State Titles last year and celebrate our U15 Girls team.

The girls faced a number of challenges leading into the tournament, including injuries and training availability, but were outstanding in their commitment, effort, and attitude throughout, recording wins over Ipswich FC and FS Valkyrie.

Coached by Senior Women's Coach Antonio Scotter, three of the girls from this squad went on to play for our Senior Women's team during the FQFPL season and Queensland Futsal Cup run.

We thank the U15 Girls for their dedication and teamwork throughout State Titles and for proudly representing Arana United on the court.

This week gives us an opportunity to celebrate those who help grow the women’s game every day.

Our next spotlight is Representative Player Georgia Waugh.

Georgia returned to the club last year after a break from futsal, previously playing for our U17 Girls and Women's sides and coaching the U13 Girls.

As captain of the Senior Women, she led the team to 3rd place in FQFPL and 4th in the Queensland Futsal Cup, whilst balancing coaching responsibilities of our U17 Girls side.

We thank Georgia for the positive impact she's had on our club over the years through her leadership, coaching, and dedication to futsal.

Our first spotlight is on Committee Member Laura Geddes!

As our former Operations Manager, Laura will be recognisable to many as a key figure in keeping our community competitions running smoothly over the last few of years.

On the representative side, she also undertook the role of Manager for the Senior Men's FQFPL team during the 2023/24 season.

Now our Treasurer, we thank Laura for all of her important contributions to Arana United, and for the time, passion, and dedication she continues to give to our club and futsal.
