We offer a range of opportunities for the young and young at heart to experience South Passage - Adventure under Sail.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, operated by our dedicated volunteers. South Passage - Adventure Under Sail. South Passage is a Tall Ship operated by the not-for-profit organisation, The Sail Training Association of Queensland (STAQ Inc.). South Passage is designed as a sail training ship with a focus on youth development. We provide "Adventure Under Sail" and she has taken over 50,000 studen

ts sailing over 30+ years. South Passage sails all year round. She is based in Manly, Queensland, but sails the eastern seaboard from Cairns to Sydney. South Passage also offers Day Sails and Voyages for the general public.

🐋⛵ A WHALE OF A TIME ON SOUTH PASSAGE! ⛵🐋

Last Saturday’s Adventure Under Sail was one for the memory book! 🌊☀️

As we cruised through Moreton Bay, we had some very special visitors come to say AHOY! 🐋💙 Our magnificent whales popped by to check out the ship and gave everyone on board an unforgettable encounter!

It was also Jacinda’s first time sailing aboard South Passage — and we’re delighted to report she absolutely LOVED IT! 🥰⛵💨

What a ripper of a day out on Moreton Bay! ☀️🌊

Our Manly day sail was filled with big smiles, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of sailing fun! 😄⛵️

The sails were hoisted, the lines were handled and the crew got stuck into life on the water! ⚓️💨

And then… WHOA! 🐋🐋🐋
The whales came out to play, cruising right alongside the ship! What an incredible sight from the deck. 🌊🐳

There’s nothing quite like feeling the wind in the sails, salt in the air and sharing an adventure with a great bunch of people. ❤️⛵️

⛵ Adventure Under Sail: Hervey Bay to Manly

Somerset College students recently came aboard South Passage for an unforgettable five-day youth voyage from Hervey Bay to Manly.

With the sails hoisted and a course set south, students settled into life at sea - taking the helm, standing watch, trimming sails, learning the ropes and working together as one crew. From calm seas to changing winds, every nautical mile brought a new challenge, a new skill and plenty of memories.

Some students also used the voyage to complete activities toward their Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, demonstrating teamwork, resilience, leadership and confidence beyond their comfort zones.

South Passage is a Sail Training Ship. That doesn't mean we're preparing young people for a life at sea. It means we use the ship & the sea to prepare young people for life.

Five days, one capable crew and an adventure they will carry well beyond the final berth. Fair winds, Somerset College! ⚓

Aldridge State High School recently embarked on an unforgettable voyage aboard South Passage. What an incredible experience - building confidence, learning new skills and discovering more about themselves along the way! 💪⚓

⛵️🌊 SOUTH PASSAGE – ADVENTURE UNDER SAIL! 🌊⛵️

What an amazing overnight Adult Voyage from Bundaberg to Hervey Bay! ⚓️🌅

There was plenty of helming, hoisting and happy sailing as our crew got hands-on and experienced life at sea! 💪⛵️😄

Along the way we were treated to some incredible wildlife encounters — 🐬 dolphins, 🐋 whales and 🐢 turtles all making an appearance! What a privilege to share the ocean with these amazing creatures. 🌊💙

But the best part? Friends were made, memories were created and new adventures were shared. ❤️⚓️

To our wonderful passengers — thank you for sailing with us! We hope to see you back aboard South Passage again soon! 🥰⛵️

And a HUGE thank you to all our amazing volunteers who give their time, energy and passion to keep our ship sailing. 🙌❤️ Without you, these adventures simply wouldn’t happen!

What an incredible day at Oceanfest in Bundaberg! 🎉🌊

It was fantastic to have South Passage Tallship out and about, showcasing what we do and sharing our passion for sailing, adventure, teamwork and learning under sail ⛵️💨

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came aboard, stopped by our marquee, chatted with our crew and showed their support. It was wonderful to meet so many ocean lovers! 💙🌊

And of course, a massive thank you to our amazing South Passage crew and volunteers — we couldn’t do it without you! 🙌❤️

What a fantastic public voyage from Rosslyn Bay to Bundaberg! 🙌⚓️

We had an incredible time sailing south, with Lady Musgrave Island being a definite highlight! 🐠🐢🤿🏝️ The reef, the clear water and the amazing marine life made it a voyage to remember. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful passenger Brian for joining us and becoming part of the South Passage adventure! ⛵️😊

And to our amazing volunteers — thank you! ❤️👏 Your hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm keep South Passage sailing. We couldn’t do it without you! 🙏⚓️
