I have always been drawn to volunteering and helping out and being involved in my community.

As a teenager, i was involved in volunteering at the local youth radio station as a radio announcer (and yes it was a main radio station listened to across mid North Coast region of NSW). Around this age I also did a number of car washes.

Moving into my early 20's and working in law firms, I was always a volunteer fire warden in the city buildings I worked in. Too many times leading people in fire drills down 34 + levels of fire stairs! 🥵

In more recent years with having children, I volunteered to cater events for Australian breastfeeding association.

Now I volunteer as secretary on the committee for Belmont Scout group as well as parent helper.

2 weeks ago was national volunteer week across Australia! I was very humbled and thankful to receive this certificate and recognition for the work I do as a volunteer!

Today is World Bee Day!

My husband, Brad and I are still keeping bees, but the last 12 months has been tough for beekeepers in South East Qld. We have had a number of swarms and a loss of a hive to hive beetle. We haven't experienced so many back-to-back issues in our 6 years of beekeeping.

This makes you appreciate even further the importance of these amazing creatures and how important they are to not only provide us with beautiful honey, but also to keep our food system alive.

Without bees we won't have plants and food. What can you do to help bees this World Bee Day?

Plant some bee friendly flowers eg lavender or sunflowers (both can grow in most of Eastern Australia), leave out a shallow dish of water with some stones, avoid spraying your garden with pesticides and support bee keepers who really care about their bees and not just wanting to profit from honey.

I have grown up listening to 4 decades of Michael Jackson music and have been a fan of his and sister Janet.

I never got to got to go to a concert. 😟

Went to MJ The musical on the weekend and wow what a performance!!! May not have been michael himself, but what an amazing performance and the closest I'll come to having seen him live!!

Anyone else a Michael fan? Anyone going or been?

Anyone seen the movie yet? That's next on my list.
