Feeling stiff, tight or not standing as tall as you used to?

Built-up muscle tension has a sneaky way of showing up in everyday life - while gardening, lifting groceries or walking the dog. It can also make it harder to exercise and move comfortably.

The good news? Massage therapy can help:
✨ Release tight muscles and stubborn knots
✨ Improve posture and flexibility
✨ Reduce stiffness and tension
✨ Support better movement and spinal health

Leo, our Remedial Massage Therapist, uses techniques such as trigger point therapy, Bowen-style movements, cross fibre friction and muscle stripping techniques to help release built-up tension and improve movement.

Regular massage check-ins can make a big difference in helping your body move and feel its best 😊

Exercise Right Week is all about making sure you’re getting the right exercise, the right way, for your body. 🙌

At our Chermside Clinic, the equipment is multifunctional, meaning every machine and exercise is adapted to your goals, your ability and where you’re starting from.

Here’s a snapshot of some of our machines and exercises, the muscle groups they target, and how we progress them.

Everything is carefully prescribed by our Exercise Physiologists and progressed over time, so you’re always moving safely, building strength and improving confidence.

Move better. Feel stronger. Exercise right 💙

✍️ Our resident wordsmith and gym member has been busy crafting poems and limericks, and we’ve proudly turned an entire wall at our Chermside Clinic into a showcase of his work - aka “Ron’s writing on the wall.”

Who knew we had such a prolific poet in our midst? At this rate we are going to need more blank wall space 😋

Thanks, Ron, for keeping us smiling and filling our space with creativity, wit and a whole lot of personality.

Here’s the famous Ron, pictured alongside our Exercise Physiologist, Mikaela.

If you had a fall at home, would you know what to do? 🤔

As part of Falls Prevention Month, our Occupational Therapist (OT) Nicola is sharing practical tips for staying safe at home - including a step-by-step technique for getting up after a fall safely (if you’re able to do so.). 💙

IMPORTANT: only attempt this if you’re feeling okay and don’t suspect any injuries. If you think you may be injured, stay where you are and call for help

Nicola also shares some easy ways to reduce your risk of falls at home:

⚠️ Clear clutter and trip hazards
⚠️ Secure loose mats and cords
⚠️ Improve lighting, especially at night
⚠️ Slow down - avoid rushing
⚠️ Use walking aids and handrails if recommended
⚠️ Keep your phone or personal alarm nearby

Did you know an OT can help make your home safer too? From home safety assessments to equipment and simple modifications, OTs can help you stay confident, independent and safe at home.

We all know that feeling - walking out after a massage when you’ve been stiff from gardening or locked up through the shoulders and thinking, “Ahh, that’s better.”

But Leo breaks the myth that massage is all “magic hands” that fix everything, taking a closer look at what actually helps your body feel better and how remedial massage really fits into the bigger picture.

Did you know your blood pressure can change within minutes of exercise? ❤️

That’s why our Exercise Physiologists do quick checks before and after your exercise session. But what are we looking for?

🌟 Safety first: ensuring your body is ready for exercise - especially if you’re tired, stressed or not feeling 100%

🌟 How your heart adapts: your blood pressure acts like a live feedback loop, showing how efficiently your heart responds and recovers after movement

🌟 Real progress you can’t always feel: improvements in heart health show up in the numbers before anything else

🌟 Early warning signs: high blood pressure (hypertension) often has no symptoms, so these checks help flag anything

🌟 Smarter, personalised training: so your exercise is matched to your body, not a one-size-fits-all approach

This Heart Health Week, it’s a simple reminder: what happens in your session is important - but what’s happening inside your heart matters even more.

Grip strength SHOWDOWN 💪 We pulled out the dynamometer (aka the ultimate squeeze test) to see who’s got the goods 🤨

It might look simple, but grip strength is a quick snapshot of overall strength, function and health — that’s why we test it during our initial assessments 💛

Good news? It’s trainable. Think: carrying your groceries, lifting weights, even squeezing a stress ball during your favourite show - it all counts.

🌟 Our team leaderboard 🌟
In order of appearance…
Nicola (OT) – 52kg
Jin (Exercise Physiologist) – 70kg (we’re all a bit scared 🤪)
Rylea (Allied Health Assistant) – 52kg
Ashleigh (Physio) – 34kg
Lachie (Exercise Physiologist) – 42kg
Faye (Remedial Massage Therapist) – 42kg
Sharna (Reception Team) – 40kg
Chloe (Exercise Physiologist) – 38kg

Safe to say… there’s some healthy competition brewing 😋
