Stretton Boxing Club

A huge effort from the team, with Mo, Humraaz, Abraham and Charlie scoring impressive wins against strong opponents. Mustafa was unlucky, losing by split decision - but fought really well. Elijah hasn't trained all week and has been very sick, yet he still boxed well. Richard and Mohammad haven't been able to train as often as they would have liked and their fitness unfortunately let them down. Overall, it was a great warm-up event for the upcoming Golden Gloves. A big thank you to Matt Partridge for his help with the team and thanks so much to all of our supporters who came to the event.

We have a big day on tomorrow at the Fiteklub boxing event, with 8 of our boxers competing. I have posted the draw below, however, we do not know when they will have breaks. Generally, for this many bouts there would be two breaks, each of about 30 minutes. As a guess, these breaks will probably be around fight 20 and 40. I have added the draw below and have given details of each of our boxers, with indicative bout times, however, I haven't added the breaks. It is about an hour's drive from the gym to the event and being a Saturday, the traffic could be heavy on the M1. Details are as follows:

Just a reminder that nominations close this evening at 11.55pm for the Fiteklub boxing event (Gold Coast) on Sat 25 July. This is a great warm-up event for those looking to compete in the Golden Gloves in August.

The U19 Nationals concluded today. Well done to our Mustafa Mehmood who competed in the U19 National Titles this week. Whilst he didn't win, he has gained valuable experience and I'm sure we'll see him back at the Nationals in the Elite division next year.

Another huge performance from Suli last night, scoring a stunning shut out victory against an incredibly tough and courageous Uten Chanavon. To say Suli looked like a million bucks would be an understatement, thanks to a stunning outfit by Stacey from Maverick. As always, Suli had the crowd on the edge of their seats, displaying his dazzling skills. A huge thank you to Matt and Ishak for their help in the corner.

Tomorrow is a busy day, with Suli weighing in at 2pm at the Fortitude Music Hall for Friday evening's event and Mustafa competing against Orlando Zirafi from Victoria in the quarter finals of the U19 National Titles (about 2.30pm) at the Eagles Sports Complex at Mansfield. Looking forward to both fights.

It's another big week of boxing with Suli having his next pro fight this Friday night at the Fortitude Music Hall (on another huge card featuring Money Max McIntyre) against an opponent that hasn't been stopped for 5 years - that's a big challenge for Suli. The weigh-in is at 2pm on Thursday, also at the Fortitude Music Hall. We will be closing the club on Friday night as most of you will be there anyway to support Suli. If you haven't already bought tickets, get them now to see "Superstar Sulz" in action. He has promised it's going to be another awesome fight. If anyone is still looking for corporate seats, call me ASAP.
