It gives us immense pride and joy to announce that our Saturday Unit has emerged victorious in the Warehouse Two-Day C1N Saturday Competition, bringing home the CHAMPIONSHIP after a hard-fought final against Bracken Ridge.

The game was filled with passion, determination, and true team spirit from every Lion who stepped onto the field. Here’s how the final unfolded:

🔹 Bracken Ridge 1st Innings – 72 all out
• A fiery bowling display saw Viren lead the charge with a brilliant 4/16.
• Sanju and Dumindu chipped in with 2 wickets each, ensuring a strong start for the Lions.

🔹 Lions 1st Innings – 100 all out
• In challenging conditions, Chamupathy stood tall with a valuable knock of 36, keeping the innings together.

🔹 Bracken Ridge 2nd Innings – 162/9 declared
• The bowlers once again showcased their skill and discipline.
• Dumindu was exceptional with 3/23, while Vittorio and Manuja picked up 2 wickets apiece, restricting the opposition and setting up the chase.

🔹 Lions 2nd Innings – 111/7
• Under pressure, Vittorio produced a unbeaten 63*.
• Dilshan’s gritty 18 added crucial support in the chase.

From early breakthroughs to fighting partnerships, every player contributed selflessly. This victory was not about individual brilliance alone it was the result of teamwork.

After restricting McGreggor Hawks to just 119/9 in 41 overs, we chased it down in just 16 overs with 4 wickets in hand – a statement win! 💪

💥 Chathuranga was on fire, tearing through their lineup with a brilliant 3/16.
🔥 Nipuna kept things tight and deadly, picking up 2/21.
💪 Abhishek added crucial breakthroughs with 2/38, applying pressure throughout.

⚡ Shehan set the tone early with an explosive 34 off 18 balls – pure aggression!
🧠 Mithun played the anchor role to perfection with 27 off 25.

🏏 Warehouse Winter Season | Match 03 Recap 🏏

What a fantastic start to the season! The Qld Lions won the toss and chose to field first, did our bowlers deliver. The Southern Tigers were bundled out for 152 in 42 overs:
• 🎯 Captain Yohan led the charge with 3 – 30 from his full allotment of 10 overs.
• 🔥 Madhushanka followed up with 3 – 33 off 9 overs, keeping the pressure firmly on.
• 🔥 Saminda followed up with 2 – 35 off 9 overs, Keeping the momentum going.
• 🤝 Mithun was electric in the field, behind the wicket plucking three crucial catches and backing up Virantha brilliantly with his sharp ground fielding in crucial runout .

Chasing 153, our openers set a rock-solid platform:
• 🏃‍♂️ Virantha and Amila put on a composed 60-run opening stand, with Virantha contributing 28.
• When Mithun joined Amila, they grew the chase from strength to strength, sharing an unbeaten 90-run partnership to seal the victory in just 30 overs!

• 🏅 Amila – 54 off 78 balls

Winter Cricket Season 2025 – Match 2 Recap

What a fantastic start to the season! Mightly Bangle won the toss and elected to bat first, putting up a competitive 201/7 in 50 overs.

Our bowlers rose to the challenge:
• Chathuranga: 2 wickets in his 10 overs
• Saminda: 2 crucial breakthroughs
• Shehan: Economical and deadly, 1 wicket for just 16 runs in 10 overs

In the chase, Lions roared back in style, finishing the game in just 38 overs!
• Saminda led from the front with a brilliant 83 not out*, anchoring the innings with class.
• Shehan provided excellent support with a composed 38, the duo putting together a near-century stand (97 runs) that turned the game in our favor.
• At the top, Virantha set the tone with a solid 31, backed by newcomer Mithun, who chipped in with 15.
• And to seal the deal, our second debutant Amila finished things off in style with a fiery 23 off just a few balls!*

A true team effort from start to finish. Great to see the mix of experience and new talent blending so well. Let’s carry this momentum into the rest of the season!

QLD Lions Dominate West Brisbane to Secure Finals Spot in Style

In a commanding semifinal performance, QLD Lions cruised past West Brisbane with a resounding innings and 58-run victory.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Lions’ bowlers wasted no time dismantling West Brisbane, bundling them out for just 75 runs. Viren was the standout, wreaking havoc with an exceptional 5-wicket haul for 17 runs. Tejpal and Vittorio chipped in with two wickets each, while Sanju claimed one to wrap up the innings.

In response, QLD Lions put up a strong batting display, posting 224 runs before being bowled out. Vittorio led the charge with a solid 70, supported by Chamu (40) and Sanju (36), giving the team a commanding lead.

Facing a massive deficit, West Brisbane struggled once again in their second innings, managing only 91 runs. Dumindu ripped through the batting lineup with 4 wickets for just 11 runs, while Dilshan and Chamupthy grabbed two wickets each. Viren also added one to his tally, sealing a dominant performance.

With this emphatic innings and 58-run victory, QLD Lions march into the finals with confidence, ready to claim the ultimate prize.

In their final match before the knockout stage, Coorparoo won the toss and opted to bowl first, giving Queensland Lions the challenge of setting a target. The Lions rose to the occasion, posting a total of 250 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Rishan impressed on his debut, scoring a hard-fought half-century with 84 runs off 206 balls, while Sanju played a fluent knock of 69 off 93 deliveries. Rain eventually brought the match to a halt, but Queensland Lions had done enough to secure their spot in the semifinals.

**QLD Lions Secure Dominant Victory and Climb to No. 2 in Standings**

The QLD Lions delivered a commanding performance in their Saturday competition match, securing a massive first-innings lead and a well-deserved victory.

Batting first, Taringa Rowers were bowled out for 150, with Dilshan leading the charge, claiming an impressive 4 wickets. Sanju, Chamupathy, and Saminda supported brilliantly, picking up 2 wickets each.

In response, the QLD Lions put on a batting masterclass, amassing 340 runs in their first innings. Robberto was the standout performer with a magnificent 160, while Nik remained unbeaten on 47. Sanju (42), Gayan (34), and Tejpal (34) all contributed valuable runs to extend the lead.

With a massive first-innings advantage, the QLD Lions sealed the match in style, propelling themselves to the No. 2 spot in the standings. A dominant all-round performance and a statement win for the team!

**QLD Lions Blues Dominate Taringa Rowers in an Impressive Victory**

In a stellar performance at Taringa's home ground, the QLD Lions Blues secured a resounding win, defeating the Taringa Rowers by 94 runs.

The Lions' batting unit set the tone for the match, led by a captain's knock from Chamupathy, who anchored the innings with a solid 45 runs off 56 balls. Madhushanka provided a quickfire 29 off 19 deliveries, while Dilshan contributed an equally valuable 24 from just 19 balls.

On the bowling front, the Lions displayed sheer dominance. Madhushanka was unstoppable, claiming 4 wickets for just 6 runs. Captain Chamupathy continued to shine with the ball, taking 3 wickets for only 5 runs, while Sanju chipped in with 2 wickets for 24 runs.

The fielding unit played a crucial role, with Rishan and Tharusha taking pivotal catches that helped maintain the Lions’ momentum throughout the match.

A complete team effort saw the QLD Lions Blues claim an emphatic victory, showcasing their strength in all departments. Well done, team!

The QLD Lions delivered an emphatic victory over Table topper “West Brisbane” on Saturday, showcasing their batting and bowling brilliance. A crucial partnership between Niroshan and Sanju set the foundation for a commanding total, while the bowlers wrapped up the match in style.

**QLD Lions Innings:**
Batting first, the Lions posted a formidable 257/8, thanks to Niroshan’s explosive knock of 106 off just 77 balls. His innings, laced with boundaries and smart strike rotation, was complemented perfectly by Sanju, who contributed a solid 54 off 39 balls. Their partnership provided the backbone for the Lions’ total, making it a challenging target for West Brisbane.

**West Brisbane Innings:**
The Lions' bowlers wasted no time in dismantling the opposition. Dilshan and Madhushanka were outstanding with the new ball, delivering continuous breakthroughs. Dilshan claimed 4/21, while Madhushanka was equally lethal, picking up 4/14. Sanju capped off a brilliant all-round performance with 2/13, as West Brisbane were bundled out for just 49 runs.

The Lions came together as champions of the Warehouse winter 2024, for a heartfelt family gathering at Himal's premises. The event was filled with joy, unity, and the warmth of family, leaving everyone with cherished memories of togetherness.

The Lions emerged as champions of the 2024 winter season at the Warehouse Awards Ceremony, celebrating their remarkable achievement. Janindu was honored with the Best Batsman Award, recognizing his outstanding performance throughout the season. The event was further elevated by the presence of former Australian cricket legend Jeff Thomson, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His attendance added a special sense of prestige and made the ceremony a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.
