She was only 14 years old.

In July 1998, Jessica Donnelly lost her life in a devastating house fire in Byron Bay alongside three friends.

Known to many as "Butterfly Jess," Jessica was remembered for her kindness, her love of music, and the lasting impact she had on those around her. When it came time to say goodbye, an entire community lined the streets to farewell one of its own.

Today, I visit Jessica's final resting place to tell her story and remember a young life taken far too soon.
