Huge Weekend for the Wolves🐺🔥
Saturday kicked things off at Muzz with Round 1 of the QLD Cyclocross Series, and the heat was brutal. Despite the conditions, Dave Roest and Adam Barnes pinned on numbers and got stuck in.
Adam had a great race and went head to head in a hard fought battle with Aden de Jager, ultimately finishing an impressive 2nd by less than 3 seconds! After a few setbacks over the past few months, it’s great to see Barnesy back doing what he loves. 👊
Dave lined up alongside around 30 other starters in an 11am race, with the temperature making an already tough course even harder. Roost dug deep throughout, steadily picking off riders as the race unfolded to finish 23rd. Well done, Rooster. A glimpse of what 2026 holds for you.🤘
This morning, Adam Lane, Murray McClymont, RJ Franko, Shane Gale, and Hannes Venter took the start line for the 110km Tour de Brisbane UCI Gran Fondo World Series Qualifier, putting themselves up against stacked fields across multiple age categories.
Massive kudos to the boys for getting it done and representing the team with real intent. Muzz and Rob lined up in the Men’s 40 to 44 race, Adam and Shane took on the Men’s 45 to 49 field, and Hannes went to work in the Men’s 50 to 54 category. The results speak for themselves:
Adam Lane - 1st (Men’s 45–49)🥇
A huge result and an enormous performance. Taking the win in a World Series qualifier is a big deal. Outstanding ride, Adam!👏🔥
Shane - 21st
Rob - 17th
Muzz - 21st
Hannes - 40th
Most importantly, all five of our boys posted qualifying times, earning them the right to represent Australia 🇦🇺 at the 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Niseko, Japan, this August. An outstanding collective outcome and a testament to the work that they’ve put in. Chapeau, boys. Plenty to be proud of after a massive weekend of racing. 💪
Big thanks to the organisers, traffic controllers, and volunteers who delivered two quality events across the weekend.🙌

🔥 Big weekend for Wolf Racing 🔥
On Saturday last weekend, Murray McClymont, Hannes Venter, RJ Franko, and Luke Venzke pinned a number on for Balmoral Cycling Club's weekly Masters criterium. A small field didn’t mean an easy race, with an early break forming that saw Muzz and Hannes make the first split, before Rob bridged across soon after.
From the break, Muzz jagged the first prime, and Hannes the second. On the final lap Hannes went long range 💥, forcing a hard chase from Stu Shaw who had Muzz welded to his wheel. Hannes held on for a strong win🥇, Muzz rolling in for 2nd🥈, and Stu 3rd🥉. RJ was best of the rest with a fast-finishing 4th. 👊
On Sunday, Adam Barnes took on the Brisbane Roubaix; a brutal 105km course featuring 10% gravel and over 1500m of climbing ⛰️. Starting at Apricot Café in Wavell Heights and finishing at Fick Brewing in Northgate, it’s no surprise Barnesy was smiling from ear to ear all day.🍻
Huge thanks to Balmoral Cycling Club and the Brisbane Roubaix organisers for putting on two quality events last weekend. 🙌 While a few of the Wolfpack are away for the long weekend, the Wolf Racing colours will be back on track tomorrow at Murrarie for the Easter Saturday criteriums. Wishing you all an awesome Easter long weekend. 🐺

Throwback Sunday
With Mother Nature keen to ensure the local racers had another “rest weekend”, it provides us with a great opportunity to reflect on the boys’ racing the weekend before.
On Saturday, Murray McClymont, Mark Whitelaw, Nathan Boschma, and Mick Cole raced in the Masters A/B race hosted by Balmoral Cycling Club at the Murrarie Criterium track. The field was 40-odd strong and, with a 46km/h average, the bunch was not there for an easy weekend roll. The race had 2 primes, with Muzz following a strong attack by Shannon Duggan and taking line honours for the first. The second prime came quite late in the race, but Wh**ey followed Muzz’s earlier example and attacked over the best part of a lap to take the second. A solid race, full of persistent and punchy attacks from the peloton. Thanks to all for a good hard and honest race! 👏
On the north side of the river, Katie Cole competed in the individual time trial at Nundah hosted by the Hamilton Wheelers. While competing on her road bike, Katie still managed to post a 37 km/h average over the 24kms. Unfortunately, the club had difficulties with their timing system, which meant the official places could not be recognised. Nonetheless, a good workout that’ll pay dividends for her later in the season.
Thanks to the Balmoral and Hamilton Wheelers Cycling Clubs for hosting these events. Here’s hoping for some better weather for the weekend ahead.
