QDRC Round 3 wasn’t just another race meeting, and here’s why.
We kicked the weekend off bright and early at 8am with qualifying. The car was unreal all day, laying down 8.14s pass after pass, but unfortunately every light on my end was red. I got frustrated, doubted myself a little, and honestly lost some confidence heading into racing.
Then round one came around, and everything changed. The confidence came back, and I knew what I was capable of.
Round 1 saw us up against Nixon Cannuli in a finals rematch. I went .124 on the tree while Nixon went red. The car ran an 8.15 on an 8.13.
Round 2 was against Jasmin Kidd, who also went red to my .062 light, while we ran dead-on with an 8.15 on an 8.15.
Round 3 was against Nash Peirano. Nash was .038 to my .056, and the car ran an 8.16 on an 8.15 to get us through for the win.
There were plenty of racers with 3/3 wins on the day, but this time Bailey Hawke and myself were the top two racers heading into the final.
As many know, Bailey is an incredibly tough competitor. After seeing her go 8.06 on an 8.06 in third round, we knew we had to be absolutely spot on and that’s exactly what happened.
A .019 light and 8.070 from Bailey wins a lot of finals… but a .000 reaction time and an 8.160 on an 8.16 will win every single time.
Crossing the finish line and seeing that win light come on, I knew my reaction had to be good, but I never imagined it was THAT good. Getting your first .000 light is special enough on its own, but topping it off with a perfect pass and a final round win makes it even more unforgettable. I truly don’t think the emotions from that moment have fully sunk in yet.
Bailey, you are an amazing racer and I’m so glad that final was against you. You put up an incredible fight and made us earn every bit of that win.
All I can really say is… I have one pretty damn good race car.
To my dad, thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream. None of this would be possible without you. Even when I doubt myself, you never do. You back me 110% every single time, and I love and appreciate you more than words could ever explain.
To my best friend Sienna , thank you for always being the calm to my storm. You put 100% into this team every single weekend and deal with me day in and day out. I appreciate you more than you know.
To all my family back home watching the livestream ,thank you for always supporting me and helping wherever you can to make these dreams possible.
To all the staff at Willowbank Raceway rain, hail, or sunshine, you guys are out there making sure we get to do what we love every weekend. You are all incredible.
And lastly, to my sponsors thank you for believing in me and continuing to back me every step of the way. This win was for you guys too. 🤍
