Six years from 2026, the world will gather in Queensland for a spectacle like no other, but our story has already begun in places where the grassroots of sports seeds were planted. It’s unfolding in community halls and coastal pools, in regional courts warmed by the Queensland sun, who chase dreams bigger than themselves. Their journeys begin in local clubs, regional towns, coastal pools, community courts, places where Queensland’s sporting identity is born.

These athletes aren’t waiting for 2032. They are building towards it every day, supported by families, coaches, volunteers and communities who believe in them long before the world arrives. Their profiles aren’t just snapshots of talent; they are glimpses of our future.

The Games will be here in six years, but the Queensland spirit carried by our athletes is already in motion. And when the world steps onto our shores, they’ll meet a state that has been growing champions in every corner, in every code, and in every community.

20 years in the making, Ashgrove Rangers are your 2026 Michael Schultz Cross Country Premiership winners.

Following a strong Queensland Championships, Ashgrove held on to claim the title by 14 points from Toowong Harriers and Athletics North.

Under the guidance of John Purcell, the club remained consistent throughout the South East Queensland Cross Country Series, taking wins in Round 5 and Round 9, but it was their all in club participation approach and outstanding support of the double rounds at the three State Championships that made the difference.

The trophy will be presented at the Queensland Athletics Awards Night in September.

Full results will be available later today and we also congratulate University of the Sunshine Coast Athletics Club for taking the 100 points at the State Championships with UQ Athletics second and Ashgrove third.
