Round 1 is finally here for our Kedron-Wavell Cougars Sapphire team ❤️🖤
We had hoped to have the full squad together for the season opener, but our talented players have thrown a spanner in the works — and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Jessie Laga’aia is currently in New Zealand taking the court for Southern Steel as an interim replacement player, while six of our HPNL athletes have earned selection in today’s Super Netball Reserves clash between Firebirds Futures and Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts.
Their success is a testament to the strength of the Cougars pathway and the opportunities available to athletes who continue to work hard and chase their goals.
With several players away pursuing representative opportunities, this weekend presents an exciting challenge for our pathway athletes, who will step into Sapphire and Ruby duties and proudly represent the Cougars.
We can’t wait to see the next generation of Cougars embrace their opportunity as the Sapphire team launches its 2026 season.

Congratulations to Nalani Makunde on her selection in the Capital Darters squad for the upcoming 2026 Super Netball Reserves Play-In Tournament and Super Netball Reserves Finals.
Nalani continues to make her mark both on and off the court — not only as a sharp-shooting goaler for the Kedron-Wavell Cougars Sapphire team, but also as the talented photographer behind many of the incredible moments shared on our socials.
We’re so proud to see Nalani earn this opportunity and can’t wait to watch her in action on the Super Netball Reserves stage. Best of luck, Nalani! ❤️
