NCIC Wrap

The tour finished with the presentation event at the WACA, where after nibbles and drinks on the oval, we proceeded to the presentation event. At the Cricket Australia Awards, the team was successful with the following:

Spirit of Cricket Award for the Blind Division

Most Runs B2 - Chris Gould
Player of a Round - Chris Gould
Most Wickets B3 - Matt McCarthy Player of the tournament - Chris Gould.

At the BCA awards:
Best B2 - Chris Gould, and
Best Female Player of the tournament - Nicole Rowling (shared).

The team of the tournament also included Chris Gould and Sean Kendrick from the QLD side. The team should be proud of what they achieved given injuries and limited numbers. Onwards and upwards for next year. If you are interested in trying this great sport, please contact us. We can support people outside of Brisbane, so please let us know if you are interested.

Day 4 NCIC

We played our last pool game in the morning against Western Australia. Queensland went into bat and posted a massive total of 1/288 with Chris Gould and Matt McCarthy scoring 112 and 116 respectively.

Western Australia chased well but a great effort from a depleted field kept them to 3/216.

Chris Gould again got Player of the game.

The afternoon was semi finals.

At the end of the pool games, QLD, SA & VIC were equal on 3 wins, so it came down to run rate; based on this, we came 4th and had to face NSW in the semi final.

QLD went into bat against a full-strength NSW and fought to 3/122 with Chris Gould 57* and Nicole Rowling putting together a great innings of 28* against a very strong team.

NSW lost 2 wickets in the chase.

Good luck to NSW & SA in the final.

This season, QLD showed true fighting spirit; we only had 9 players on the field, some of whom were injured, yet still managed to get 3 wins. All Queensland should be proud of the effort.

We will continue to build on this spirit for next year.

If you want to be part of this, please contact us.

Day 3 NCIC's. This morning, we took on South Australia. Qld batted first and posted a competitive 2/223. The highest scores were a second century for the tournament for Chris Gould (107) and Matt McCarthy with 77*. This earned Chris his second Player of the Game award. The chase was close, but South Australia was restricted to 8/220. A great win for QLD. The team then went on to take on Victoria, with an injured team Victoria posting a massive 310. We went hard but fell short with 5/263. The highlight was a maiden century to Sean Kendrick, accumulating 105. Tomorrow, we take on Western Australia, then hopefully onto a semi-final. The team is showing great spirit despite the long list of injuries; please support the team while they keep fighting for QLD.

Today we again travelled to Mandurah in the afternoon to play ACT. ACT won the toss and elected to bat, at the end of their innings they were 4/214, built around a 96* by Toby Hartshorn. Matt McCarthy and Chris Gould did the hard work throughout the innings with a 184-run partnership. Chris Gould scored a century along the way, which earned him Player of the Game. Congratulations to Nicole Rowling, who came in and hit a boundary with her first ball to win the game. Tomorrow we play 2 games at 9:30am and 2:30pm WA time.

Day 1 of NCICs. We played the late game at Mandurah against NSW. Our captain won the toss and chose to bat. We finished with a competitive total of 3 for 194, including a 181 partnership between Chris Gould and Sean Kendrick. High scores were Sean Kendrick 96* and Chris Gould 77. Special thanks to our captain, Matt, who ran for Sean for 20 overs. NSW came out to bat and, despite being short in the field, we took 5 wickets, but went down to NSW in the 18th over. A great start to the tournament. Wickets were taken by Matt McCarthy, Ray Moxly, and Jack Murphy. Congratulations to Sean for also winning Player of the Game. We finished our day with fish and chips by the water. Today, we play ACT at 4:30 PM QLD time; please watch us on YouTube.
