So my four-year-old had a full meltdown at Tropical Fruit World & I’m out here doing my nervous system regulation thing.

Tapping, grounding, twisting around like I’m auditioning for a low budget indie dance film. Yes strangers were giving me the full five second stare.

You know what? I stopped caring about their judgment approximately point-five seconds into it. Because here’s the thing: when I regulate my nervous system, a public meltdown feels a little less overwhelming.

My body feels calmer.
My stress tolerance goes up.

And that’s way more important than looking ‘normal’ to other people I’ll never see again.

Your child’s feelings are valid.
Your response to them is valid.
And if regulating yourself looks a little unconventional, well, welcome​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​!
