Omg! What a morning on the local reefs off Mooloolaba! They all heard it coming! The sound and vibration was getting louder and louder! Then out of the blue a large humpback whale cruised past in 10m of water! Our 4 SSI open water students could not believe their eyes! Leila and Jake our dive staff, with a combined 6000 dives have only ever seen a whale underwater once before this! This rare event is something these students will never forget. To my ocean-going buddies at the Gold Coast - please keep an eye out for this Humpback - passed South West Rocks today - so might be at Gold Coast soon - hopefully can be assisted by SeaWorld if can be located.
