It's also about learning how to do things even though you feel scared, rather than doing things without feeling scared. So saying these phrases even though you may feel scared of the response they may give because ultimately this is for your mental well being, not theirs!

💡 Ever felt like you're running on empty? You're not alone. That constant overwhelm taps into our 'threat system,' flooding our bodies with cortisol—yep, the stress hormone! It's like we're hosting an unwanted stress parade in our brains, complete with confetti made of anxiety. 🎉😩
But here's the plot twist: when autopilot takes over, we're like navigating a road while our thoughts are elsewhere—busy, worried, planning. Some routines become second nature; we're autopilot pros! Ever taken a wrong turn because it's 'habit'? 🛣️🚫
🛑 Time for a reality check: Autopilot's great for brushing teeth, not so much for behaviors like bingeing on biscuits or bedtime Facebook marathons. We've accidentally woven these habits into our lives. We need a conscious gear shift!

When our bodies are in constant overwhelm it signals distress in obvious ways, like experiencing frequent colds or infections. Meanwhile, our minds seek attention through clearer signs, such as panic attacks, anxiety episodes, or intensified emotions.
🤔How do we break free from this cycle? To me, it boils down to setting an intention to change, identifying how we want to feel, and consistently taking steps to reach that emotional destination. Addressing root cause beliefs and using somatics is key!

Back when I was 21, I found myself in a real-life soap opera. There was a relationship breakdown that hit me like a ton of bricks. He did the whole disappearing act and, surprise, he cheated. I mean, it was like the plot twist I never saw coming. We were even knee-deep in church ministry as youth pastors. 😬

Ever had a "pull your hair out" moment with the kids? Let me tell you about mine...🤯 The kids were fighting & I was in sensory overload. In my distress I announced that I was calling the new mums club and they would be getting a new mum. They burst into tears. I felt bad. I'm all about respectful parenting, but sometimes, even the calmest mums hit a wall.
How did I turn the tide? It can be summed up in just one word: Apologise. Yep, a simple "I'm sorry, mummy's having a hard time. I'll try better next time." A hug came next, not just for them, but for a secret superhero hug release of serotonin!
Did you know hugging boosts serotonin? This neurotransmitter in your brain helps you feel good. It's like a sprinkle of fairy dust for happy, calm feelings! But I didn't stop there. Later, I dug deeper into my triggers using somatics. Simplified: it's the chill pill for your mind-body connection.
