Kicking Up The Dirt β Reef City Rumble β 2026-2026 Season Finale in Gladstone
Last night Karl Hoffmans got the better of sixteen other 360-LS Sprintcars at McCosker Gladstone Speedway to take the win, making his fourth podium, and third win, across four venues in the past two months. Luke Manttan locked in another solid second while James Mathews secured his first Sprintcar podium when he crossed the line third. Dan Moes and Clinton Marcon rounded out the top five last night. Congratulations also to Cody OβConnell who snagged the win in the Wingless class, and Harry Stewart who successfully defended his Queensland Speedcar Title. And up in Cairns Gwesyn Dalliston beat a small band of 360-LS Sprintcars to the final chequered flag of the night, taking the win ahead of Ash Ewing and Allan Woods.
Qualifying in Gladstone saw Jason Faint top the leader board with a 12.353 second lap ahead of Luke Manttan (12.736), Noah Ball (12.784), Jack Walker (12.856) and Dan Moes (12.890).
Heat one started with John Grother and Clinton Marcon from the front row, with Grother quickly securing the lead while Jack Walker wasted no time in advancing from fifth to second. Marcon settled into third before surrendering to a hard-charging duo Dan Moes and Jason Faint in quick succession. Grother continued to lead from Walker while Moes and Faint negotiated over third with four laps to run, while further back Nicholas OβKeefe raced underneath Anthony Vanderreyden. As the laps began to run out Walker closed in on Grother, with Moes and Faint also edging closer as the white flag flew. With less than a lap to run Jack Walker made his move, racing around the high side of the Q42 racer and into the lead before taking the win, leaving John Grother second at the line. Jason Faint stole third from Dan Moes on the final circulation, with Moes fourth across the line ahead of Clinton Marcon, Erin Vanderreyden, Nicholas OβKeefe, Anthony Vanderreyden and Sprintcar newcomer Blake Duggan.
Craig Hyde and Libby Ellis shared the front row for the start of heat two, with Ellis initially securing the lead before Karl Hoffmans raced around the high side from position four to take control of the race. Ellis settled into second ahead of Noah Ball while Hyde settled into fourth ahead of Adrian Josefski and James Matthews. Josefski got the better of Hyde while Ball closed in on the back of Ellis and Hoffmans extended his lead with five laps to run. A caution for the spun car of Hyde with 3 laps to run paused the race, with Hoffmans leading Ellis, Josefski, Manttan and the rest back to green light conditions, while Noah Ball, who was third before the caution, withdrew from the event during the stoppage. Hoffmans immediately opened a small margin on the rest while Manttan slipped underneath Josefski, leaving the Q92 racer under pressure from James Matthews, while Manttan set out after Ellis. Karl Hoffmans got the win ahead of Libby Ellis and Luke Manttan, with Adrian Josefski, James Matthews, Cory Hughes and Craig Hyde rounding out the finishers. Noah Ball did not finish the race.
Erin Vanderreyden got the jump on the start of heat three, the NQ47 racer quickly settling into the race lead while further back Jason Faint rode the right rear of Dan Moes and got into the wall. Craig Hyde settled into second behind Vanderreyden with Noah Ball third before Moes raced around the top side of Ball and into the top three. Hyde looped the Q84 racer in front of the oncoming field, and while Moes was able to get past unscathed Ball had nowhere to go, the Q40 racer collecting Hyde before the pair we collected by Faint. Faint inverted the NQ74 racer out of the race, while Adrian Josefski and Karl Hoffmans came together while trying to avoid the drama, with Josefski also up-ending his Q92 racer. All drivers walked away but neither Faint nor Josefski were able to restart the race. With nine laps to run Vanderreyden led the restart from Moes, Ball and Hoffmans, with Ball racing underneath Moes as the bonnet on Moes lifted up. The bonnet held on for half a lap before coming completely off and pausing the race, with Moes then relegated to the infield. Erin Vanderreyden led the restart and quickly made herself comfortable in the race lead, opening a comfortable margin on the rest before taking the win ahead of Noah Ball and Karl Hoffmans. Blake Duggan crossed the line fourth and led Craig Hyde and Cory Hughes home, while Dan Moes, Adrian Josefski and Jason Faint all failed to finish the race.
The final heat started with John Grother and Clinton Marcon from the front row with Marcon securing the lead ahead of Grother and James Matthews, with Luke Manttan and Jack Walker soon making their way forward into second and third respectively. Manttan and Walker began to close on Marcon but with laps beginning to run out they were not able to get close enough to make a move. Clinton Marcon got the last heat race win of the 2025-2026 season ahead of Luke Manttan and Jack Walker, with James Matthews, Libby Ellis, Anthony Vanderreyden and John Grother rounding out the finishers. Nicholas OβKeefe did not finish the race.
The Bronze Shootout saw Libby Ellis, James Matthews, Clinton Marcon and Noah Ball race the clock. Matthews and Marcon locked in the fastest times and advanced to the Silver Shootout while Ball and Ellis were eliminated from the shootout event.
Erin Vanderreyden and Karl Hoffmans joined James Matthews and Clinton Marcon on track for the Silver Shootout. James Matthews and Karl Hoffmans locked in the fastest times in the Silver Shootout to advance to the Gold, while Erin Vanderreyden and Clinton Marcon failed to make the transfer.
The Gold Shootout saw Jack Walker top the timing charts and secure pole position for the main race, with Karl Hoffmans set to share the front row after locking in the second fastest Gold Shootout time. Luke Manttan and James Matthews rounded out the Gold Shootout contenders.
Jack Walker and Karl Hoffmans led the A-Main field to green light conditions with Hoffmans getting the jump on the start and settling into the race lead. Unfortunately the race was quickly paused when Blake Duggan inverted the beautiful NQ66 racer at the tail of the field before the end of the opening lap. While Duggan walked away from the wreck he was unable to restart the race.
A full race restart followed with twenty-five laps now on the board. Hoffmans again secured the lead when the green flag flew, with Walker settling into second ahead of Luke Manttan and James Matthews. Just one lap in the race was paused when Clinton Marcon and Erin Vanderreyden came together in turn one while negotiating over fifth, and while both restarted, Vanderreyden had significant damage to both her front and top wings.
With the race distance further reduced and nineteen laps now on the board, Hoffmans, Walker and Manttan led the field back to green light conditions. Manttan had a bold look underneath Walker without success, while Hoffmans extended his lead. Dan Moes and Noah Ball advanced mid field β relegating Libby Ellis back a few places, while Moes began to close in on fifth placed John Grother. Hoffmans entered heavy lapped traffic, giving Walker the chance to close right in to be within striking distance before Hoffmans found some clear air ahead of the traffic and again began to pull ahead with nine laps to run. A caution with eight laps to run paused the race and saw Erin Vanderreyden retire to the infield with Hoffmans, Walker and Manttan leading the way back to green light conditions. Unfortunately for Walker, who had been having overheating issues in the NS25 racer all night, the car simply did not go on the start, with things getting a little messy behind as the rest of the field tried to avoid him. Sadly for Walker his race was over.
The race resumed with Hoffmans again leading the way and Manttan now second ahead of James Matthews. Matthews came under pressure from both Dan Moes and John Grother but continued to maintain third, while Hoffmans and Manttan opened sizable margins on the rest. A caution with three laps to run paused the race, and then another a lap later leaving a two lap sprint to the last chequered flag of the season. Moes continued to challenge Matthews for third over the final two laps but there was no stopping Karl Hoffmans from taking the win ahead of Luke Manttan. James Matthews held on to third to secure his first Sprintcar podium, with Dan Moes and Clinton Marcon rounding out the top five. Noah Ball, Libby Ellis, John Grother, Anthony Vanderreyden and Craig Hyde completed the finishers, while Jack Walker, Erin Vanderreyden, Adrian Josefski, Blake Duggan and Cory Hughes all failed to finish the event.
