We’re proud to announce that Hockey Brisbane TV (BHA/BWHA) has been named a finalist for the 2026 Hockey Queensland BWHA Community Awards - Initiative of the Year!

What started as a simple idea in December 2025 has grown into an incredible volunteer-driven initiative, launching in February 2026 and reaching more than 1.8 million monthly views! 📈

Covering both BHA and BWHA competitions from day one, Hockey Brisbane TV has transformed the visibility of hockey across Southeast Queensland, capturing the action, celebrating our players and showcasing the incredible talent across both associations.

Entirely powered by volunteers, this initiative is helping strengthen our hockey community, connect players and clubs, and bring the game to a wider audience than ever before. 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, passion and skills to making Hockey Brisbane TV what it is today. This recognition is well deserved!

Jenny has been named a FINALIST for the 2026 Hockey Queensland Association Technical Official of the Year! 🎉

Jenny Heron OAM is the driving force behind technical officiating at BWHA, making an extraordinary contribution to the delivery of hockey across the association. In 2026, she coordinated technical officials for 1,720 matches, ensuring games were supported, organised and able to run fairly, safely and on schedule.

Through countless hours of rostering, communication and problem-solving, Jenny has provided vital support to players, coaches, umpires, and clubs at every level of the competition. Her approachable, organised and encouraging leadership has helped attract and retain volunteers, giving new technical officials the confidence and support needed to get involved and succeed.

Nationally recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), Jenny leads by example through her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence.

From 2027, the Brisbane Hockey Association and the Brisbane Women's Hockey Association come together as one organisation: Hockey Brisbane.

We're looking for a leader to guide that first chapter. You'll bring our clubs, players, volunteers and staff together, and help build a stronger game for everyone in Brisbane.

If you lead with integrity, play with heart and believe sport grows through belonging, we'd love to hear from you.

🎨 Art Show: Celebrating Laurie Anno 🎨

If you were at Downey Park for NAIDOC round this year, you would have seen the stunning backboards and artwork painted by Laurie Anno, something the Anno family has generously done for a number of years now. 💛

To return the love, Valley's Hockey Club are hosting an art show at the Valley Clubhouse to showcase Laurie’s incredible work.

Laurie proudly draws on his Kalkadoon (Mount Isa) and Torres Strait Islander heritage from Weiben (Thursday Island), bringing his culture and personal experiences into every piece. Working across a variety of mediums, he shares his stories, thoughts and ideas, and is passionate about honouring Elders past, present and emerging in the communities where he has lived.

✨ Every artwork is individually hand-painted and is an original, one-of-a-kind piece.

Who can join?
👧🧒 Children aged 5–11 years (in 2026).

✅ Hockey sticks and shin guards provided
✅ No experience necessary
✅ FREE to attend

A mouthguard is optional, as there will be no tackling activities during the session.
