The Australian Masters Team Carnival was held on the Gold Coast from Jan 5-9. It was a very successful week with Queensland bringing home the trophy. Many of our ladies from BLTA represented Queensland and here are some pictures to commemorate a wonderful week of teams' sport. Apologies to those who have been missed.

Merry Christmas to all BLTA members and your families. We had a lovely lunch celebrating the end of another wonderful year of tennis. See you in 2026!

This photo is what BLTA is about - lifelong friendships. Hazel Stewart in green was the original captain of Bluebirds, and Bronwyn Draper (right) joined Bluebirds when she was 21 in 1966. In 2026, Bronwyn will have been a member of Bluebirds for 60 years and captained the team to many wins over those years. Her daughter Sharon Hoole has been in Bluebirds for 26 years so following in her mum's footsteps. Hazel's daughter Karen Stewart (Australian rep) has been a Bluebird also. Hazel's sister, Daph Anderson has also played in the team as has Daph's daughter, Debbie Pearce. So three mother-daughter pairs. Hazel and Daph also have a famous brother, Roy Emerson. Daph married a tennis great - Mal Anderson. Bronwyn (Australian rep) married Dennis Draper (another great player), sons Mark and Scott have played professionally and been very successful, and daughter Sharon has represented Australia. How is that for tennis history in Brisbane Ladies Tennis Association.

Our 2026 BLTA Season will commence in late January 2026. Any interested new players or players wishing to return please reach out via messenger. New players always welcome.

Our BLTA Member Christmas Lunch is on at the Colmslie Hotel on Wednesday December 3 from 12.30 pm. We look forward to seeing present and past players there.

2025 Term 4 Fixtures is where we switch it up. All teams who played together for the first three terms are shuffled and renamed. This creates some epic matches which are very equal and can be long. Our final was between Twirls with Jess, Lauren, Cath, Kerry and Liz versing Picnics with Alison, Susan, Gay, Jo, and Majella. A great final with Twirls winning. All other teams played also.

2025 Brisbane Ladies Tennis Association finals took place on 17 September at Morningside Tennis Centre. Team Bluebirds vs Drifters with Drifters winning. All teams played on the day and it was wonderful competitive tennis.
