The boys training weekend with Surfing Victoria head coach James Easton was a huge success. Over the course of the two days they had 4 surf sessions, each one was followed by video review to work on techniques and turn selection. All of the surfers felt they benefited from the advice and were extra motivated to surf to implement their learnings.

Thanks to Troy Smith for managing the crew ☠️

This is the second of our junior development trips this year after the girls went to the Seas the Day Women’s Surfing Festival. Another group of boys head to Yorkes in November for a training camp with Neptunes Surf Coaching

Thanks to everyone who has helped with the fundraising activities, every bit counts to make opportunities available to our club members. 🙏

VALE BRIAN “SQUIZZY” TAYLOR — A TRUE SURFING LEGEND 🏄‍♂️

Some people surf waves. Some people help shape the surfing community around them. Brian “Squizzy” Taylor has done both.

With an incredible list of achievements spanning competition, club life and junior development, Squizzy has left a lasting mark on surfing.

🏆 Three-time State Junior Champion
🏆 State Open Title Winner
🏆 Multiple Yorkes Classic Winner
🏆 Robe Classic Winner
🌏 Member of two winning ISA World Surfing Games teams — including New Zealand
🇧🇧 Team Captain at the ISA World Surfing Games in Barbados
🏄‍♂️ Roaders Club Champion
⭐ Roaders Life Member

But perhaps what makes Squizzy’s contribution even more special is everything he has done outside the competition.

He has been a major contributor to the development of the club, helped establish the Yorkes Junior Surf Club, and played a key role in creating the Berry Bay Surf Jam — helping give the next generation of surfers opportunities to get involved and develop their passion for surfing.

From winning titles himself to helping build a stronger surfing community for those coming after him, Squizzy’s contribution goes well beyond trophies and championships.

A competitor. A leader. A mentor. A clubman. A legend.

Congratulations and thank you, Brian “Squizzy” Taylor, for everything you have contributed to surfing and the people around it. 🤙🌊

A legacy that will continue long after the last wave.
