This is my cat Noddy. He is 6yrs old, deaf but extremely friendly. He loves eating. He has a neurological condition (head shaking), hence his name of Noddy.

He was brought to the Broadmeadows Vet on Camp Road around 5.30pm Tuesday by a kind Samaritan who found him a street (Ripplebrook Drive) away from where he lives (Katunga Crescent). Noddy, who is microchipped, was scanned by the Vet Assistant who gave the Samaritan my address. He was asked by the Vet Assistant to place him in my backyard and shut the side gate because I wasn't home. For some reason this has not happened.

If you are that good Samaritan, or know them, or Noddy's whereabouts, please make contact with either me (Mark) 0400 701 069 or The Broadmeadows Vet 9309 6033.

I am willing to pay a small reward for his return as he was my late (26/11/2025) mother's cat and is a much-loved member of our fur family. I am greatly distressed by his absence. Mark A Chambers (Ollie)

We are looking for a few extra legends to jump behind the counter and lend a hand. If you can spare some time to flip a snapper or sling some cans, please come down and yell, *"Put me in, coach!"*
# # # 🏆 Club Legend Status: Ollie!
If you need any extra motivation to get down here, the absolute warrior **Ollie** is already on deck assisting at the BBQ! Mind you, he is doing this while still recovering from a **broken hip AND an amputated toe**.

The Jacana Cricket Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lionel Fernando, a beloved coach, mentor, and respected figure whose impact continues to shape the character of our club.

A truly global cricket citizen, Lionel represented Ceylon in the pre-Test era and enjoyed a distinguished career in England and Australia, bringing an invaluable international perspective to Jacana.
The entire Jacana Cricket Club community extends our sincerest condolences to the Fernando family and all those mourning this significant loss. He will be deeply missed, but his coaching legacy lives on in every player who learned the finer points of the game under his expert guidance.

Rest in Peace, Lionel.

Vale Peter Blizzard
It is with heavy hearts that the Jacana Cricket Club announces the passing of Life Member, Peter Blizzard.
Peter was the true definition of a clubman. On the field, he was a fierce and respected competitor. Off the field, his impact was even greater. Whether he was serving on the committee, volunteering his time, Peter’s dedication was tireless.
His contribution to the fabric of our club was immense. For decades, Peter was a pillar of strength, a friendly face at the bar, and a man who simply got things done for the love of the game and his community.
A Legacy That Lives On
* Life Member: Honored for a lifetime of service.
* Club Leader: A long-standing committee member who helped shape our future.
* True Volunteer: Always the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Peter’s presence at the ground will be deeply missed, but his legacy will be felt every time we take the field. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the Blizzard family and all who were lucky enough to call him a friend.
Rest in Peace, Shorty. 🏏💙

Hanni Harb Grand Final: A Heartbreaking Finish to a Brilliant Season 🏏
Cricket can be a cruel game sometimes. After a day of intense pressure and momentum swings, the Hanni Harb Shield Grand Final has come to a close with Jacana falling just short of the target.
Chasing 104, the boys fought for every single run, taking the game deep into the final overs. We showed incredible grit to reach 96, but the final wickets fell just 8 runs shy of glory. It’s a tough pill to swallow to get that close to the summit, but the pride we feel for this team couldn't be higher.
A Fight to the Final Ball
While the result didn't go our way today, the character of this side was on full display:
The Bowling Effort: Restricting a side to 8/103 in a Grand Final was a massive achievement and gave us every chance to win.
The Determination: Every batsman who walked out there today gave it everything, fighting through nerves and a disciplined UWSC attack to get us within touching distance.
The Resilience: We never let the game drift. We stayed in the contest until the very last wicket, showing the true "J’s" spirit.
To the Players: Hold your heads high. To lose a Grand Final by such a small margin hurts, but it also proves you belong on the big stage. You’ve played exceptional cricket all summer, and one afternoon doesn't take away from the brotherhood and success you’ve built.
A Season to Remember
As the sun sets on the Hanni Harb Shield season, we celebrate everything this group achieved:
Reaching the big dance.
Dominant wins throughout the regular season.
Developing a squad that plays for each other and the badge.
Thank you to the coaches, the families, and the Jacana faithful who rode every bump with us today. We’ll take the hurt from this one, turn it into fuel, and come back even hungrier next season.
Proud of you, J’s! 💙

Hanni Harb Grand Final Update: The Tension is Real! 🏏
We’ve reached the final stretch at Jacana Reserve, and it’s absolute "edge-of-your-seat" stuff.
With 10 overs remaining, Jacana is 4/69, chasing a target of 104. We need 35 runs from the last 60 balls. We have 6 wickets in hand, which is a solid position to be in, but in a Grand Final, every dot ball feels like an eternity. The equation is clear, and the trophy is within touching distance!
The Final Push: What We Need
The game is right on the knife-edge. Here’s how we bring it home:
The Run Rate: We need 3.5 runs per over. There’s no need for panic or risky shots—smart cricket and working the gaps will get us there.
The Partnership: We need these two at the crease to stay composed. A steady 15-20 run stand here will break the spirit of the UWSC Champs.
Value the Wicket: With 4 down, we can’t afford a cluster of wickets. It’s about playing straight and punishing the loose delivery when it comes.
The Vibe: The crowd is getting loud, the sun is out, and the "J's" are grinding it out. It’s going to be a nail-biter, but we’ve got the depth to finish this.
Keep Pushing, J’s!
Every single counts. Every cheer from the boundary helps. Let’s stay clinical and clinical and finish this chase with a bang!

Grand Final Wrap-Up: A Gritty Finish to a Stellar Season 🏏
The dust has settled on the Bill Sheehan Shield Grand Final, and while the result didn’t go our way today, the "J’s" spirit was on full display until the very last run.
Defending a total of 85 was always going to be a mountain to climb, but the boys didn't take a backwards step. We made them earn every single run, fighting back to claim 5 wickets and keeping the pressure high throughout the innings. In the end, the target just wasn't quite enough to hold them off, and our opponents crossed the line to take the win.
Heads High, Jacana!
It’s a tough way to end the day, but one game doesn't define the incredible journey this team has been on.
The Fight: To take 5 wickets while defending such a low total shows exactly what this bowling unit is made of—pure heart and persistence.
The Season: Reaching a Grand Final is a massive achievement in itself. The boys have played some elite cricket over the past few months to earn their spot on the big stage.
The Future: We take the lessons from today, bottle that competitive fire, and come back even stronger next year.
To the players: You left it all out on the field today. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented the club.
Thank You to the Supporters
A huge shout-out to the Jacana faithful who turned up to cheer, shout, and support the boys. Your energy kept them going through every over.
Congratulations to the team on a fantastic season. We didn't get the silverware this time, but we showed exactly why Jacana is a force to be reckoned with.
