🖤🤍 Congratulations to one of our newest Life Members, John Luca! 🦓
Few people have given more of their time and energy to Brunswick Zebras than John, whose tireless and selfless contribution has helped made the club what it is today.
John's Zebras journey began in 1999 when his son Joe started playing football. He joined the committee that same year, beginning an extraordinary period of service as a committee member, coach, team manager, secretary and president.
At one stage, John had all four of his children playing in different Zebras teams, while coaching his son Anthony's team and serving as president of a club that had grown to more than 20 teams for the first time in its history.
And then there were the countless hours behind the canteen counter! John began running the Sumner Park canteen in 2000, added Ryder Oval in 2003, and somehow kept both going until around 2015.
He also served as club secretary during a period of significant growth in 2007–08, before taking on the presidency in 2009–10.
It's hard to overstate just how much John has contributed to Brunswick Zebras, often through the unglamorous, behind-the-scenes work that keeps a community football club running.
John, thank you for your extraordinary dedication to the Zebras and the generations of players and families who have benefited from your efforts. Life Membership is richly deserved.
