One for the bike nerds: 75 year old electric bike 🤩
It’s not often that something like this comes through our workshop. Our customer wanted to find a way to use a vintage trike that had been in their possession for many years and used as a promotional bike.

Its origin is unknown (we suspect it was an Indian lunchbox delivery bike, from the ‘Horn Please’ painted signs on its wooden cargo tray) but it is at least 75 years old. Is this the oldest ebike in Australia?

Original forks were modified by brazing on v brake bosses and fitting a hub motor.

Before: A sad & sorry neglected bike.

Listen to your bike – it might just be trying to tell you something! Squeaks & rattle sounds = OK. Crunching & grinding = Bad.

Even if you have a fairly new e-bike, you still need to check your brakes and have the brake pads changed when needed to stay safe and avoid unnecessary, costly repairs.
Riding with completely obliterated (metal-to-metal) bicycle brake pads destroys stopping power, can gouge and warp expensive steel rotors (which will be costly to replace), and risks catastrophic brake failure.

Learn more about brake pads & some tips to extend their life in our latest news post- link in bio 🚴

Have harp (and a Benno). Will travel.🪉
Angie – a Cargocycles customer from Birregurra, and a total legend- recently rode her Benno e-bike with her harp on the back to the National Celtic Festival in Portarlington - 3 hours from home in the rain!

Battling the weather, with plastic bags on her feet, Angie’s epic ride was all part of her training for a charity ride she’ll be doing in October on the iconic Mawson Trail.

The Outback to Oasis – ARA Ride for Good covers 365km along the iconic Mawson Trail, taking riders from Hallet to Adelaide through rolling farmland, historic townships, and picturesque w**e country.
If you can, donate to Angie's fundraising goal here…
