🎃🐴 EOI — HALLOWEEN AT BLAKK PARK?!

Okay… hear us out.

Horses. Costumes. Obstacles. Halloween. 👻😂

We’re putting some feelers out to see whether there would be enough interest for a Blakk Park Halloween Dress-Up & Fun Day!

Nothing too serious and definitely not a competition day — just an excuse to get together, dress ourselves (and our willing horses!) up and have some fun.

We’re thinking:

🎃 Best dressed horse & rider/handler
👻 Best kids costume
🧙 Best group/theme
🐴 Small mounted and/or in-hand challenges
🚧 Halloween-themed obstacle course
🍎 Bobbing-for-apples style horse challenges
🕸️ Spooky sensory/desensitisation obstacles
🎯 Little games and challenges
🏆 Fun prizes
📸 Plenty of ridiculous photo opportunities
🍭 Treats for humans AND horses!

You absolutely wouldn’t have to ride to participate — we’d love to make it suitable for ridden horses, in-hand horses, ponies, kids and nervous humans alike.

Think fun, social and slightly chaotic, rather than serious competition. 😂

📚🐴 EOI — THE BLAKK PARK “HORSE LIBRARY”

We’re considering putting together a Spares Box / Horse Library at Blakk Park Stables — basically a little give, take, borrow, wash, return, swap & share station for our horsey community.

We all have those things sitting around that are perfectly usable but no longer fit, suit our horse, or get reached for anymore.

Think:
👖 Riding pants & jeans
🥾 Boots
👕 Tops & jumpers
🐴 Halters & lead ropes
🧺 Saddle pads
🧤 Gloves and other handy horsey bits

The idea is simple — donate what you no longer need, borrow something when you need it, swap something for something else, or wash it and bring it back.

Because sometimes you arrive at the stables and realise:

🤦‍♀️ “Whoops… I forgot my ____.”

Or perhaps more importantly…

💦 “I slipped over and now my ass is wet and I have to drive home like this.” 😂

Nothing needs to be fancy or new — just clean, safe and still useful.

It could also be a great way for people starting out with horses to access some basics without having to buy absolutely everything straight away.

If there’s enough interest, we’ll find a permanent little home for our Blakk Park Horse Library and start collecting donations. 🖤🐴

Quite a bit, as it turns out. 😂

You can bring your horse for arena time, use the round yard and obstacles, head out onto the trail, join one of our community events, attend visiting clinics, bring the kids for horse experiences or simply spend some quiet time working with your horse somewhere different.

We’re continuing to build and add to the property as we go — including our newest mock trail riding area.

Blakk Park isn’t intended to be fancy.

It’s intended to be useful, welcoming and accessible. 💚

🚧🐴 HELP US BUILD THE ULTIMATE OBSTACLE COLLECTION!

With our mock trail riding space starting to take shape, we’re making a BIG wishlist… and we want your ideas!

The mock trail will focus on natural, real-world challenges you might encounter out riding — but we also have a completely separate space available that we can dedicate entirely to obstacles. 🙌

And when we say space… we can make it as big or as small as we like!

So this is our chance to get creative and build a dedicated obstacle area where horses and handlers can safely practise, play, problem-solve and build confidence.

What would YOU love to have somewhere safe to practise with your horse?

🌉 Bridges?
🚪 Gates?
🪵 Logs & raised poles?
💧 Water crossings?
📬 Mailbox?
🚩 Flags & bunting?
🛞 Tyres?
☂️ Umbrellas?

Or something completely different?

Think trail riding, Working Equitation, mountain trail, desensitisation, groundwork, confidence building… or just something FUN.

Some obstacles could be permanent, others interchangeable so we can keep changing the setup and introducing new challenges.

🐴🌿 HORSE-MAD KIDS — THIS ONE’S FOR YOU

Not every child who loves horses needs to start with riding lessons.

Sometimes they want to learn how to actually look after one.

Our Horse Keeper experiences can include grooming, feeding, rugging, mucking out, filling waters, learning basic horse handling and helping with everyday jobs around the property — with plenty of horse cuddles along the way.

Available for children 5+, including options for social/community participation.

Because there’s a whole lot more to loving horses than sitting in a saddle. 💚

🩶 Meet Smudge — Our Gentle Giant 🩶

We’re very excited to introduce the newest face at Blakk Park Stables — Smudge! 🐴

Smudge is every bit the gentle giant. Big, beautiful and incredibly sweet, with the kind of quiet presence that makes you feel at ease standing beside him.

He’s settling into life here beautifully, getting to know the herd, his new surroundings and, of course, all the humans who are already falling in love with him. 🥰

We think Smudge is going to fit right in with what Blakk Park is all about — quiet moments, building confidence, enjoying horses and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.

If you see this big grey face around the property, make sure you say hello. 🩶

🐴 SATURDAY = ADVENTURE DAY

Today we’re swapping arena walls for the trail. 🌿

One of our favourite things about in-hand walking is how much you can achieve without ever getting in the saddle.

New places.
New horses.
Different sights and sounds.
And plenty of opportunities to practise simply walking together.

Our fortnightly Blakk Park walks are back tomorrow!

No pressure to ride — bring your horse along and enjoy a relaxed walk, some new scenery and good company.

They’re particularly lovely for young horses, nervous humans, horses returning to work or anyone who simply enjoys doing something different with their horse.

💚 You don’t have to be the bravest rider to belong here.

You don’t even have to ride.

Blakk Park has become a space for people at completely different stages of their horse journey — confident riders, nervous riders, young horses, old hands, kids learning how to care for horses and people who simply enjoy being around them.

There’s no prize for progressing the fastest.

Sometimes grooming your horse, taking an in-hand walk or successfully doing something you couldn’t do last month is the achievement.

That’s the kind of horse community we’re trying to build here. 🌿🐴
