Registrations are now open for the 2026 Next Gen 12s Program!

This is a fantastic opportunity for our Sunshine Coast Phoenix U12 athletes to continue their basketball development, experience additional high-level training and connect with representative athletes from across Queensland.

The Next Gen 12s Program is the first stage of Basketball Queensland’s athlete development pathway, designed to identify and develop the next generation of athletes who may one day represent Queensland.

The Next Gen 12s Pass includes access to:

🔥 Hub Sessions
📚 Parent Education Presentation
💻 Online Athlete Development Workshops

With camps and sessions held across Queensland, the program provides our young Phoenix athletes with opportunities to learn, develop, challenge themselves and be inspired by the next level of basketball.

🏀 COACHING OPPORTUNITIES | NBL1 NORTH MEN’S & WOMEN’S 🏀

The Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (SCBA) is looking for passionate, experienced and driven coaches to lead our NBL1 North Men’s and Women’s programs into their next chapter.

As SCBA continues to grow and build a strong senior performance pathway, we are seeking two high-quality coaches who are ready to lead, develop and inspire athletes at the highest level of basketball on the Sunshine Coast.

🔹 NBL1 North Men’s Head Coach
🔹 NBL1 North Women’s Head Coach

The successful coaches will provide leadership and direction to their respective NBL1 programs, establish a strong high-performance culture and work closely with SCBA’s basketball department to strengthen the connection between our junior, development and senior pathways.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking coaches who can:

✅ Lead the preparation and coaching of an NBL1 North program
✅ Build a professional, positive and accountable team culture
✅ Recruit, develop and retain quality players
✅ Lead and work collaboratively with coaching and support staff
✅ Contribute to the ongoing development of the SCBA representative pathway
✅ Build strong relationships with athletes, staff and the wider basketball community
✅ Operate within SCBA, Basketball Queensland and NBL1 requirements

THE RIGHT CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

🏀 Strong basketball knowledge and coaching experience
🏀 Proven leadership and player-management skills
🏀 Experience creating and maintaining a high-performance environment
🏀 Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
🏀 A genuine commitment to athlete development
🏀 Appropriate coaching accreditation and compliance

Previous NBL1, State League or equivalent high-performance coaching experience will be highly regarded.

Following careful consideration, the SCBA Board has determined that, as the Association continues to grow and develop, it is the right time to separate the General Manager and Men’s NBL1 North Head Coach roles.

With a number of strategic and development initiatives underway and planned for the future, this change will allow the General Manager to focus on the broader growth and development of SCBA, while providing the Men’s NBL1 North program with a dedicated Head Coach.

Thank you, Sean, for your commitment, leadership and contribution to the Men’s NBL1 North program. Your work and dedication to SCBA are greatly appreciated.

Sean will continue as General Manager, working closely with the Board to lead SCBA through its next phase of growth and development.

Expressions of Interest for coaching appointments for 2027 and beyond will be called in the near future across our NBL1 North, QSL and QSLY programs.

We look forward to Sean’s continued contribution to SCBA and the next exciting chapter for the Association

Third and final trial for the Sunshine Coast Phoenix U16 Boys Representative Program. Thanks to all the athletes and families that participated and a huge shout out to Phoenix Player & Coach Development Manager Richard Dickel and all of the Phoenix coaches. So much talent and potential. It is going to be a big 2026-2027 for the Phoenix U16 rep program.

Today was the third and final trial of the Sunshine Coast Phoenix U16 girls representative program. Big thanks to all of the athletes and families that participated. The talent on display was outstanding and the future of women's hoops on the coast looks exciting. Huge shout out to Phoenix Player & Coach Development Manager, Richard Dickel and the whole coaching team. Let’s Go Phoenix!!
