PRODUCTION SEDANS SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1
Rose Stands Strong
The heat races proved that it was survival of the strongest, With Kane McDiarmid, Barry Rose and Rickie Nuccini sharing equal points.
On the count back the 31 Commodore of McDiarmid would bring the field to the green from the pole with Rose also sharing the front row for the 20 lap journey.
McDiarmid would get the jump of the 181 Sigma of Barry Rose in the opening laps as the pair would put on a ding d**g battle for the lead while Jamie Graham and Rickie Nuccini would battle for 3rd and 4th respectively. On lap 8 Rose would commit hard on the low line into turn 1 snatching the lead of turn 2 and Nuccini would jump past McDiarmid of the exit of 2 pushing him back to 3rd. Meanwhile Nuccini would be shown the enquiry flag which would come back to bite him after the checker flag, but Barry Rose would lead the way until the field would see the first caution on lap 18 when Eddie Holt came to grief and would retire to the infield.
Rose would lead away on the restart from Nuccini, McDiarmid, Graham and Shane Dubberlin, but the 181 Sigma wouldn’t be beat while Nuccini and McDiarmid would battle to the line with Nuccini crossing the line in 2nd and McDiarmid in 3rd but a post race relegation would move Nuccini back to 4th putting the 22 of Jamie Graham onto the podium.
Southwest Champs will be back on the raceway just down the road for Round 2 at the Make Smoking History Quit Bunbury Speedway for the Production Gold Cup on December 7

STREET STOCK SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1
Whild Stands Strong
Collie Speedway would host the opening round for this years championship
After all the heat race action it would be Manjimup Speedway’s Shane Whild that would put the Whild Avo’s number 2 falcon of the pole for the 30 lap feature
Whild would take a comfortable lead in the opening laps as the field settled into a comfortable rhythm until lap 8 when Daniel Simpson would spin the 18 EL Falcon in turns 1 and 2 to bring out the first caution of the final, whilst under yellows formal Brian Rose Memorial winner Cody Avins would retire the Hydralink 31 Falcon to the infield with mechanical dramas whilst in second place.
Whild would lead the restart from Hoath, Thomson, Penfold & Stanley settling back into a rhythm until lap 12 when Zahara Van Der May would retire to the infield and in the same lap Whild and Hoath would half spin together in turn 4, This would allow Thomson to close right up to our leaders making it a 3 car battle for the lead.
Hoath would make his move on lap 15 and pass Whild on the main straight but making wheel to wheel contact as the pass was made which would be costly as only 5 laps later the right rear on the 29 Hoath Refrigeration Commodore would collapse causing him to cut down a tyre and retire to the infield along with Avins and Van Der May.
Shane Whild would re assume the lead with a late caution on lap 28 when Rodley would make contact the Renfrey, and he would spin on the back straight. Rodley would be relegated to the rear and Renfrey would be put back into 4th spot.
Thomson threw everything he had on the restart, but Shane Whild was too strong and would go and take the win from Thomson, Penfold, Renfrey, Higgins as your top 5
The Southwest Championship now turns its attention to Round 2 for the Heidi Robinson Memorial at the Trade Hire Augusta Margaret River Speedway on November 23
