🏏 Kookaburra WA Community Cricket Awards 🏏

We’re proud to recognise James Gannaway, President of the Busselton Margaret River Cricket-Association, who recently took out the Country Male Volunteer of the Year award at the recent Kookaburra WA Community Cricket Awards.

Similar to many volunteers, James gives countless unpaid hours to supporting clubs, players and volunteers, quietly solving problems behind the scenes and making sure the game continues to thrive at a grassroots level—all driven by his genuine love for cricket and community.

His impact was most evident through his pivotal role in securing and delivering the recent Country Cricket Championship. Taking a full week of annual leave, James worked tirelessly before and throughout the event—coordinating logistics, sourcing funding and sponsorship, and stepping in wherever needed—to ensure a seamless and memorable championship for players, officials and supporters alike.

Leading with integrity, generosity and passion, James doesn’t just hold the title of President of the BMRCA - he truly lives it. His care, pride and sense of responsibility exemplify the very best of volunteerism, leaving a lasting impact on country cricket.

Tim Gilotti - Burekup Cricket Club

Tim has done a mountain of work this year to upgrade the clubs gear, replacing old and worn-out equipment and organising the clubs new uniforms. He has also put in a lot of effort across the year to maintain the grounds and facilities at the club spending 7 days a week at the club on multiple occasions. All of this work does not go unnoticed.

Nobody is more excited for the Cricket Season to start than Harry from Eaton Cricket Club, who was the first Cricket blaster to register for the upcoming season in the South West!

Harry was inspired by the spectacle of Australia vs India last year and the Cricket episode of Bluey to spend his winter playing cricket in the shed with his Dad when it rained, and the front lawn when the weather allowed.

As the first cricket blaster of the year Harry scored a new Scorchers shirt and hat which he proudly donned today to hit Dad around the yard, and don't the colours suit him 🌞

Cricket Season is fast approaching and despite the wet weather we have had lately, we were recently able to run a preseason session with South West and WACA - Peel Country Cricket players selected for the under 15 regional development Carnival thanks to the great facilities we have in the South West at SWISH Bunbury .

The session consisted of basic fundamental drills in batting and bowling to kick start the season for these talented players, with the weather saving them from a 2km time trial and athletic testing.
