13 players bravely fought some wet and cold conditions in the State GC Handicap Singles. The winner Rick Murray had to wait till he won the very last game before he could push Geoff Lawler into second place. Congratulations to all the players for the mighty efforts over the weekend and a big thank you to Dawn and her kitchen helpers and our amazing referee Helen for a stellar performance

Bunbury Central Doubles

Moorabinda was well represented in the Bunbury Central Doubles event over the weekend with Gil, Debra, Debbie, Bill, Michel, Rob, Frank and Rick all taking part. Helen was also busy patrolling the courts. Come the final game, however; it was the Super Subs who claimed all the glory.

Well done to Rob and Frank on winning. A big shout out to Joyce as well for managing the event.

Clubs GC Open Singles

On Sunday 15th March we saw 12 club members compete in the GC open singles. The players were once again supported by our amazing referee Helen Quicke. Two qualifying rounds results gave us 6 players in the Open section and 6 players in the plate section. Some excellent croquet was plated across both blocks with Bob James winning his first Open Title from David Squire while Geoff Lawler won the plate from Dawn Robinson. Congratulations and thank you to our TM Marcus McGavock for a well run event. The 4 winners plus some action shots below.

Thanks to the members who came down on Thursday, the vertimowing was completed in one day. It was an amazing effort by all who attended a job well done !!!!!

Country Singles

We hosted the Country Singles event over the weekend and a big shout out to all our members and volunteers who helped with; the presentation of our courts, setting up and packing away each day, running the kitchen, donating food, spectating, officiating and the giving up of our lawns. It is a great tournament and we were well represented with Les, Bob, Dawn, John Ken, Brent, Albert, Christine and Geoff all playing. Hopefully next year, even more of you will be interested in competing.

Runner Up: Dawn Robinson (Moorabinda)

Men’s Singles

Winner: Alan Sands (Como)
Runner Up: David Squire ( Moorabinda )

Robyn becomes only the second player to win both AC and GC Women’s Singles.
Alan goes back to back and is the 5th player to do so.
A big shout out to Moorabinda, our TM (Rob) and our referees (Eric, Jannine and Helen), and the ladies who looked after the kitchen.

B Grade Club Championship

Last Sunday saw a very strong field compete for our coveted B Grade Shield.
Brent went though the event undefeated with Gill just 2 games behind in second place
A fantastic effort from Brent as it follows on from his win in the C Grade last season.
