QRL Statement: Wide Bay Bulls Queensland Rugby League can confirm that the Dolphins NRL Club will now provide operational support for the delivery of rugby league talent development programs across the Wide Bay region.

The Dolphins will expand their commitment to developing the next generation of rugby league talent, taking on the delivery of the Wide Bay Bulls talent development programs across the Wide Bay region.

Under a new Participation Agreement with Queensland Rugby League (QRL), the Dolphins will assume responsibility for administering the Wide Bay Bulls program, strengthening the pathway available to young male and female players throughout the region.

The transition follows collaboration between the Dolphins, QRL and the Wide Bay Bulls after members voted to wind up the Wide Bay Bulls incorporated association at a special general meeting in July.

The move builds on the Dolphins’ established presence across Wide Bay, with the club already investing in rugby league development throughout the region.

In Bundaberg, the Dolphins’ partnership with Waves helps fund a full-time Game Development Officer, providing dedicated support to schools and rugby league clubs throughout the local catchment.

The club also has an established presence through school competitions, coach education programs and existing full-time staffing resources, providing a strong foundation to further support the development of rugby league across Wide Bay.

The Wide Bay Bulls currently field male and female teams in the Cyril Connell Cup and Harvey Norman Under 17 competitions, with the pathway beginning through Academy programs for players aged 13 to 16.

Bringing the program under the Dolphins will further connect young players in the region with an established development pathway and provide opportunities to progress towards higher levels of the game.

The Dolphins will work closely with QRL and local rugby league stakeholders to build on the work already undertaken throughout Wide Bay and ensure players continue to have access to high-quality coaching, development and representative opportunities.

🏉 FINALS FOOTY – THIS SUNDAY! 🏉

This Sunday, 23rd August, Bundaberg Junior Rugby League joins with BRL for their Finals games at Salter Oval.

Our International Finals will get the day underway across Fields 1 and 2, followed by the BRL Finals games throughout the afternoon.

As this weekend’s games are being held in conjunction with BRL, gate entry fees will apply:

Adults – $9
High School Students with ID & Pensioners – $6

🏉 All Junior International players and team staff will receive FREE entry. Please provide your name at the gate.

🚗 PARKING UPDATE – WALKER STREET 🚗

At the request of Bundaberg Regional Council, we’re asking everyone attending Salter Oval to please take a little extra care when parking along Walker Street, particularly at the Hungry Jack’s end of the grounds.

Council has approached BJRL following concerns about vehicles being angle parked, blocking driveways and impacting the safe flow of traffic in this area.

BJRL has discussed possible options with Council, including additional No Parking signage or line marking. At this stage, we have been advised that permanent parking restrictions are not considered warranted as the issue predominantly occurs during the football season.

In the meantime, we need your help. 🙏

When parking along Walker Street, please ensure you:

🚘 Parallel park only
🏠 Keep all residential driveways completely clear
🚦 Do not park in a way that obstructs or impacts traffic flow
🪧 Follow all existing signage and normal road rules

BJRL has also advised Council that police patrols of the area may assist during busy football periods, particularly where vehicles continue to be parked incorrectly despite these reminders. Any enforcement of parking or road rules would, of course, be a matter for the appropriate authorities.

We completely understand that parking around Salter Oval can become very busy on game days, particularly during our bigger Sundays. We also want to be good neighbours to the residents surrounding our grounds and work cooperatively with Council to ensure everyone can access the area safely.

We’re doing our part by getting the message out — now we’re asking everyone who visits Salter Oval to please do theirs. ❤️🖤🤍

A little consideration goes a long way, and hopefully with everyone working together, this doesn’t need to become a bigger issue.
