METALURG LIONS ROAR IN DOMINANT COMPETITIVE RETURN AGAINST BREXIT FC
Metalurg Lions returned to action in style, thumping Brexit FC 10-2 in a competitive fixture that served as a practice game for the reigning champions — their first outing since securing the title in October 2024. Despite treating the clash as a warm-up, the Lions brought intensity, discipline, and class to the field, showcasing slick team play, precise passing, and impressive fitness across the board. Most importantly, the squad came through unscathed, ticking off one of the main goals of the day: no injuries.
Daniel Paunkoski once again led from the front, bagging multiple goals in a familiar display of dominance. Billy Taseski finished the game confidently, showing no signs of the back injury that had been lingering over recent months. In a highlight for the club, Miki Paunkoski made his long-awaited return after suffering a major knee injury in last season’s semi-final, completing a successful and composed run-out. At the back, Darko Jovanovski was solid in goals, making key interventions when called upon, while Christian Nikoloski added his trademark flair through the midfield, bringing energy and spark to the Lions’ attacking rhythm. The entire side gelled well, showing signs that the chemistry and hunger that led them to last year’s title is still very much alive.
Aleksandar Nikoloski was a late withdrawal due to personal reasons and was missed in the midfield rotation. Looking ahead, the leadership group is set to meet in the coming days to determine the club’s direction for the upcoming season, with ongoing concerns around player availability a key factor.
For now, though, the Lions have sent a clear message: they’re back, and still very dangerous

WE ARE CHAMPIONS 🔥🏆
In a thrilling grand final, Metalurg Lions triumphed over Sporting Zanzaboni with a commanding 9-4 victory.
After the team news ruled out M. Paunkoski and B. Taseski from the final lineup, the Lions were forced to make two changes in Pendovski and Velazquez.
Despite a tense start, D. Paunkoski was one of the standout performers, netting a stunning hat trick that showcased his finishing ability. Nikoloski played a crucial role, holding up the ball effectively as a target man, allowing his teammates to push forward with confidence. Daniel Pendovski was a constant threat, demonstrating impressive skills in both attack and defense, while Jovanovski in goal made several crucial saves that kept Zanzaboni at bay.
Velazquez, stepping in as a fill-in for the first time since round 7, proved to be impactful, contributing to the attacking efforts and causing problems for the opposition. Karevski’s strong performance in defense further solidified Metalurg's dominance, leaving Sporting Zanzaboni struggling to find their rhythm.
Overall, the Lions displayed a well-rounded team effort, dominating in possession and the scoreboard to eventually secure a well-deserved 7th championship title 🇲🇰
Many thanks to our fans who showed up to support the boys tonight and for their continued support throughout the season.

M.PAUNKOSKI CHANCE TO RETURN |
Last night, during the second half of the Semi-Final match, M. Paunkoski suffered a suspected serious knee injury following a reckless tackle from an ABC123 player. Initial assessments raised concerns about the severity of the injury. However, subsequent evaluations by Dr. James Allen on Thursday morning and a chiropractic assessment indicated that the injury is a knee strain, and Paunkoski is expected to be "all clear to go" for Wednesday's match.
A late fitness test on Monday will determine his readiness to play.

Onto the Grand Final we go! 🔥
In a commanding display, Metalurg Lions overcame an early setback to crush ABC123 10-2 in a thrilling encounter. After conceding the first goal, the Lions quickly equalized thanks to A. Nikoloski, who produced the goal of the game with a sensational self-flick followed by a thumping volley.
Once the floodgates opened, the Lions showcased their attacking prowess. Bill Taseski was instrumental in the buildup, linking up effectively with teammates and creating numerous chances. H. Karevski also impressed, finding the back of the net and contributing to the team's dominance with his first goal in three games.
D. Paunkoski continued his red-hot form, netting four goals and solidifying his reputation as the league’s top goalscorer. M. Paunkoski’s relentless pressure on the opposition kept ABC123 on the back foot throughout the match however, late in the second half, M. Paunkoski had a brief knee injury scare but was quickly assessed by club doctors, who ruled it a minor issue with no serious implications.
ABC123 struggled to find answers as the Lions ran rampant, marking a resounding victory that highlights their attacking capabilities and resilience, including another impressive performance from goalkeeper Jovanovski who made some incredible saves throughout the game.

LAST ROUND TEAM NEWS 🙌 | Paunkoski cleared for return, Nikoloski to rest and D. Paunkoski sets sights on 100 goal milestone.
We’re delighted to announce that M. Paunkoski has been cleared for a return to action after suffering a hamstring strain in last week’s game. Paunkoski underwent a successful hamstring test with Dr James Allen, however he will sit out and rest during this week’s dead rubber game and undergo a fitness test on Saturday before returning to the lineup in next week’s Semi-Final.
Nikoloski will also be out of action this week’s after a knee complaint. Personal doctor Ilija ‘Francus’ expressed his concerns ahead of the remaining games claiming ‘nisto, nemat igrajne pojke’ which angered a young Nikoloski who self declared a rest week and return to action in the semi. It was unclear whether Nikoloski resorted to a late night Big Mac in frustration.
‘The Bulldog’ and ‘Schpitzon’ will come in to tomorrow night’s game as fill ins, with C. Nikoloski out and suffering the dreaded VCE exam study period. MLFC Committee have also assured fans that D. Bozinovski will need to undergo a 0.00% BAC reading before stepping onto the field in line with the club’s TAC RSA policy.
In other exciting news, D. Paunkoski has set his sights on 100 goals scored in the regular season. He currently sits at 97 goals and is 3 goals away from the milestone record with one regular season fixture to play - a record which has never been achieved in club or futsal history!
Here’s our lineup for Wednesday’s last round fixture against MK Stars at 8.40PM.

The newly 8-time Minor Premiers got off to a great start, seeing Lions legend Daniel Paunkoski score his 11th hat-trick this season in the first 5 minutes of the game. And he did not stop there. Nikoloski and Taseski both contributed on the scoresheet with impressive hat-tricks respectively. Karevski was immense in defence and in the middle of the floorboards, while Pendovski was solid in his first appearance for the boys in red in over 3 months.
