A tough one for the Aussie Spirit, falling 2-1 to the Netherlands in an extra-innings.

Australia struck first in the opener through Shaylan Whatman, before a pitching duel took over with both sides locked in a tight contest. The Spirit created chances throughout but couldn’t quite capitalise in the key moments.

With the game heading to the WBSC tie-break, the Netherlands edged ahead in the eighth, and Australia were unable to respond.

A hard-fought performance from the Aussie Spirit.

Both milestones came during the Amsterdam International, as the team builds towards the WBSC Women’s World Cup Group Stage 2026 in Prague.

Two games, two wins for the Aussie Spirit 💪🥎

The Aussie Spirit are building nicely towards the WBSC Women’s World Cup Group Stage 2026 in Prague, currently sharpening up at the Amsterdam Invitational ahead of next week’s action 🏆

Game 1 saw Australia dominate Czechia 8–0 in five innings, setting the tone early and never letting up. Georgia Hood powered the offence with a two-run homer, while the pitching staff combined for a composed shutout performance.

Game 2 was a much tighter contest, with the Spirit edging Italy 2–1 in a hard-fought battle. After Italy drew level late, Australia responded in the seventh to regain the lead and held firm under pressure, with Trzcinski closing it out when it counted.
