LUSC Old Boys Triumph on Friday Night!

Match Report brought to you by Old Boys Team Sponsor Maverick Garage Doors .

LUSC Old Boys had an amazing win on Friday night beating top team Docklands Athletic 5-1 to regain top spot in the Over 45's Soccer League.
A tight match throughout, Docklands who have now only lost two games for the season - both to La Trobe - fielded a strong team and were always an attacking threat.
In an even first half the Old Boys took a deserved 1-0 lead. Second half was an incredibly high quality intense affair with Docklands throwing everything at our Old Boys but the defense held strong throughout. Once we were able to gain possession we attacked with speed and precision and always looked capable of scoring. Some great runs from our forwards Damir and Patty and superb finishes resulted in the final 5-1 scoreline. Despite the final margin the game was much tighter than what the score suggests.
A great team effort however the game was won due to our heroic defending against the oppositions top quality attackers. Centre backs Loz and Steve P were pillars in defense, and were wonderfully supported by Gab, Stephen H and Micka who all snuffed out numerous attacks. Once we got the ball, the composure of Cuonga, Shannon, Martin and Moutis in the midfield stood out and then of course our dynamic duo up forward of Damir and Patty showed why they were two of the most feared strikers back in the day! Patty's 3 goals after mazy runs through the Docklands defenders were a highlight and had the crowd screaming with delight!.
Finally, a big shout out to all friends, family and junior players that attended the match and helped create an amazing atmosphere. Was great to see you all there and hope you enjoyed the night!

Also, a big thank you to our team sponsor Maverick Garage Doors for their support in 2026 - https://www.maverickgarage.com.au/ .

Metropolitan League 8 Men
Match Report

“It was a tough game to watch yesterday. Yarra Jets are a physical and fast team who were not used to being bested!!

If we had converted our opportunities we would have had more goals. Everyone played really well. Outstanding in defence and GK.”

2-1 Win
