GENERAL MANAGER RESIGNS, REPLACEMENT SOUGHT

The Speedway Australia board has reluctantly accepted the resignation of General Manager Tim Savell, who will depart from the role in August.

“We thank Tim for his service and wish him and his family all the best as they head back to New Zealand”, said chairman Guy Thompson. “This is a good opportunity to reflect on the period of stability and success in recent years” he continued, “which has been a mammoth team effort with Tim at the helm on a day-to-day basis. The organisation has never been in a better position and has a bright future thanks to a period of unprecedented growth and careful stewardship.”

Tim commented, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Speedway Australia, with the undoubted highlight being the opportunity to meet and assist the thousands of great people involved in the sport. It’s sad to be leaving, but I’ll be watching future progress with interest as there is a solid platform for speedway to blossom in the years ahead. A special thanks to the Board who set the strategic direction and gave us the opportunity and confidence to try many new initiatives over the last six seasons, and to my team-mates/staff who constantly adapted as we progressed along the journey”.

The board are now seeking applications for the position of General Manager both internally and externally. The General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the staff, finances, projects and initiatives to improve process for Speedway Australia. A key focus is the ability to engage at diverse levels, with the objectives of implementing decisions of the Board of Directors, while advancing the interests of both Speedway Australia and the sport of speedway.

It is expected that General Manager will display strategic leadership qualities, and motorsport experience is preferred. If interested in the role you can submit a letter of application and resume to the contact point for enquiries, Chairperson Guy Thompson. He’s available via [email protected] or 0417 593 518.
