# # # A Message to Our NDHD Members
Iโd like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make NDHD days and events happen.
Running a successful event doesnโt just happen on the day. There are hours, days and weeks of planning, organising, communicating, setting up, packing down and problem-solving that go into every event. Much of this work is done quietly behind the scenes by our committee and dedicated volunteers.
Our committee members give up their own time, often juggling work, family and their own horses and riding, because they want to provide opportunities for our members and help our club continue to grow.
But the reality is that **we cannot run these days without volunteers.**
From setting up arenas and equipment, helping with poles and obstacles, calling riders, assisting judges and officials, running canteens, packing everything away and cleaning up at the end of the day โ every helping hand makes a difference.
It can be easy to arrive at an event, ride, enjoy the day and head home without seeing everything that has happened behind the scenes. But there are people arriving early, staying late and putting in countless hours to make sure everyone else gets to enjoy their day.
Our committee cannot do everything on their own.
We need our members to step up and contribute where they can. Even an hour of your time, helping with setup, packing down or assisting during the day, makes a huge difference. If everyone contributes a little, the workload becomes much more manageable for everyone.
**NDHD is a club because of its members โ and it takes all of us to keep it running.**
We genuinely appreciate every person who volunteers, helps out, lends a hand or simply asks, *โWhat can I do to help?โ*
To our committee and volunteers: thank you for the time, effort and commitment you continue to put into NDHD. Your work is noticed, valued and very much appreciated.
And to all our members โ please remember that these events don't happen by themselves. **If you enjoy coming along and participating, please consider giving some of your time back to the club.**
for example did you know itโs us who
Clean up before an event, empting heavy, overflowing poo bins
How do the cold drinks make it from shop to fridge?
How do we find our wonderful judges and clinicians?
How are draws and timetables created?
How are arenas there to ride in, often in different locations, yet consistent?
Who feeds our judges? Where does their food come from?
Who replaces the empty toilet paper rolls and unlocks the toilets before people arrive?
Who then empties the bins, counts the money and locks up?
Together, we can continue to make NDHD a welcoming, active and successful club for everyone.
