And that’s a wrap on the Alice Springs Gliding Club’s 2026 gliding courses! 🛩️☀️
What a fantastic three weeks of flying!
With over 300 launches and countless hours spent in the air, it's been an incredibly busy and rewarding few weeks at the club!
We’ve welcomed students, instructors and club members from across four states, all coming together in Alice Springs to enjoy some fantastic flying.
A huge congratulations to our newest club members: Kylie, Alex, Rodney, Kate, Matthew and Pippa! It's been great having you all involved, and we look forward to seeing you back at the airfield.
A massive thank you to our instructors Ian, Grant and Ed, who generously shared their time, knowledge and experience throughout the courses.
Ian travelled from Tocumwal to spend three weeks with us, leading the courses as our Level 3 instructor and sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Grant also deserves a special thank you for his ongoing support and commitment to the club, generously giving up his time to instruct throughout the third week.
Ed made the trip to Alice Springs at very short notice to help fill some unexpected gaps in our instructor and winch driver availability.
We're incredibly grateful to all three for their time, dedication and support!
And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who helped make it all happen. From winch driving and ground operations to club maintenance and the countless hours spent organising everything behind the scenes, an enormous amount of work goes into running courses like these.
Special thanks to Kim, Gwyneth, Sam, Philippe, Reuben, Bettina, Jo and Ben (both big and little!), along with everyone else who lent a hand along the way.
It's been brilliant to see the airfield so busy, with so many people coming together to enjoy gliding in Central Australia.
Thanks to everyone who made these three weeks such a success. Here's to plenty more flying! 🛩️☀️
