What was your junior club?

None! Only started playing AFL 2 years ago

What bought you to the magpies?

Community - I stalked the maggies IG page and thought that looks like a chaotic bunch of people, I want to be a part of that!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

My first tattoo ever is my brother and sisters birthday in roman numerals...which the tattoo artist messed up so I have the day before my brothers birthday tattooed on me🤪

What is your favorite thing about our club?

From the very first training I went to, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, I knew I had just found an incredible bunch of humans that have quickly become great friends!

Where are you from?
I was born in Lismore, currently live in Lennox head

What was your junior club?
Lismore swans

What bought you to the magpies?
Seeing how much my sister enjoyed playing for the magpies

What is your favorite thing about our club?
The people in it!!

Where are you from?
I grew up driving around Australia with my family, so everywhere.

What was your junior club?
No junior club. I was a netball girly.

What bought you to the magpies?
I was training for a triathlon and half marathon and wanted to do something team based so when my gym posted a call out for women to join the team I went to one training and was absolutely obsessed.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am a Cancerian and will guess or ask everyone else their star sign.

What is your favorite thing about our club?
that you can be competitive but also have a lot of fun. Playing footy as a woman, with other women, is the best.

It’s official!! The time has come to dust off the boots and catch up with all current and future players for our 2025 Season. Come on down to the Cavanbah Centre from 6pm on Tuesday 12th November for a meet and greet with your coaches and to register your interest for the season.

Where are you from?
I’m from Harvey WA grew up in Kingston TAS then in mullumbimby NSW

What was your junior club?
I played for Brunswick bulldogs (b and f winner,one premiership)

What bought you to the magpies?
I played for Northern Rivers Storm in 2004 which was a rep side in the AFLQ comp then started in Byron in 2005 and have been playing since. I came to Byron for the culture and the mateship

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I have been full back my whole career but have kicked 5 goals in a half

What is your favorite thing about our club?
My favourite thing about our club is the heart, I have never experienced such a strong culture or persistence and strength.

On Saturday we were fortunate enough to induct 2 incredible members of our community as life members 🖤🤍

Brett Porter – “Pottsy”
Arriving from Tasmania to Byron Bay in 2013/14; we’d like to thank the self-described “old dog learning new tricks” for his contributions to the Byron Bay Magpies AFC as Senior Men’s Coach in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 – and inherent roles as Game Day Coordinator, Sponsorship Coordinator & Secretary across this time period.
 
With the assistance of then President Michael Young, Pottsy established the new home of the Byron Bay Magpies from Bangalow to the Cavanbah Centre in 2015. Working relentlessly and applying up to 80 hours to the team per week, Pottsy established precedents for culture, discipline, group accountability, winning mentality and personal buy in to the club. Thursday night pre-game training proved a masterclass in competitive reconnaissance each week, and with 10’s of pages of printed game strategy, opponent match ups and opposing team ground reports Pottsy brought a vehement and comprehensive ex*****on to coaching that has not been witnessed since.
 
He transmuted a lot of personal athletic accountability to players, with cut-throat selections and equally supportive camaraderie establishing the base for a culture of excellence and resulting in Premierships for our Senior Men’s team in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.
 
 
Daniel Tiffin
 
Playing 235 senior games for Byron Bay Magpies, Daniel Tiffin is the second highest game holder ever in Magpies history.
 
His team accolades across this time including Best Backman in 2007 & 2012, Spirit of Byron 2016, Senior Men’s Captain in 2023 & 2024
 
Behind the scenes, Tiff’s extensive contributions to the executive includes Presidency in 2021 & 2022, Treasurer in 2023 & 2024, canteen coordinator for 6 years running, and multi-faceted efforts in fundraising coordination, volunteer coordination and player onboarding. A role model to junior players in both conduct and game play, Tiff is first to arrive, last to leave the ground, and the one unwavering constant over the past 20 years of Byron Bay Magpies.

We cannot wait to see you all this Saturday 17th August for our annual Presentation Night and 40th Year Anniversary 🖤🤍
This year will be extra special as we award 2 very special members of our community as Byron Bay Magpies Life Members 🦅
