A few more from Club Round.
The Byron Bay Malibu Club is one of the oldest longboard clubs in Australia. We meet every 2nd Sunday of the month for a surf round at Wategos beach.
The Mal club was founded in 1980 and since then has ran the Byron Bay Malibu classic. This event is one of the only remaining single fin comps in Australia and is the longest running. It sees longboarders from all Over Australia coming to compete. The comp is run by volunteers from the club and all the money raised goes to local charities.

Once again Wategos turned on a bit of winter sparkle. It was a casual attire round without rashies. Great to see a few new members and of course the rock steady crew. More happy snaps during the week.

The NSW Longboard Titles turned out to be a successful few days for the club. Freya won the under 18’s. Louise took out the over 60’s women. Matt won the over 40’s men and was a finalist in the open division. Mahli was very unlucky in the Open Women’s (she has youth on her side so plenty of time to go further). Shout out to Zippy (an honorary club member of sorts) who won the over 65’s. Well done to all the surfers from up and down the coast who faced challenging conditions to say the least.
